It is time to post about my latest small glory.
Monday I ordered a new router from New Egg.
The free shipping scheduled delivery for Friday.
Today the UPS tacking report gave me this message today:UPS will be in your area and will deliver your package a day early.
Not much glory but better than no glory.

Better than here where a CD I had ordered and that was supposed to have arrived yesterday still has to make an appearance. Emailing the distributor has so far given only silence on the line. I think I just lost 22 euros.

Not only did it arrive midday yesterday, but it even works, that's a major bonus.

Grumble, daily driver dead. Your fusion drive is not fused and can't be repaired.
Grumble it is Sunday and all the repair shops are closed.

Only possible glory, the backup ran around 9:30PM Saturday and can be accessed.

I guess on Monday we will find out how expensive the grumble is.

Slight glory, can boot from an external and got the backup to restore to the external. So the box is fine, just a dead drive.

Good news. My new diet of solely vegetables, getting my carbohydrates out of said vegs as well, is a success. I started on the 18th of April and have so far lost 12 kilos. I will certainly keep this up for another couple of days before I switch to a normal diet for a week. Then after that week it's back to the salads. My end goal is to lose 40 kilos.

What vegetables do I eat then? A salad of leak, spinach, corn, cucumber, cabbage, radishes, paprika, green beans, peas, carrots, lettuce, beets, onion, pine nuts, strawberries and goat's cheese sprinkled with some apple vinegar.

I drink only water, 2.5 - 3 liters per day. And yes, walk a lot to the toilet to get rid of all those fluids. :)
Just to make sure I don't lose out on vitamins, I take a multivitamin a day and one extra magnesium tablet.

I also make a lot of miles, walk a good 6,000 - 12,000 steps per day. I have an extra incentive of wanting to have an average of 6,600 steps this month. I'm presently at 6,900 (with two days to go) :)

Just said goodbye to my other cat friend as well. Twiggles has survived her sister Wokkel by a good two months, but things were really going downhill for her these past days. Brought her to the vet and had to say my goodbyes. She's to be cremated and her ashes sprinkled in the same place her sister's were.

Bye dear friend. I'm going to miss you. 😢

Glory:
opened up one of my hives today and collected 12Kg in rent.

Three days ago collected swarm. While waiting for them to settle, Went to prepare empty hive to put them in only to discover that another swarm must have moved in there in the preceding week. Fortunately I have a friend who wanted a swarm to get started.

I still need to speak to the ones that moved into the empty hive without asking about rent days.

Mozilla forgot to renew one of their signing certs, which now tells that all your extensions are unsigned. They're working on a solution...

Grumble update, due to crap at work and the city ripping up the street work is on, had to delay taking the box in to today.
The drive price isn't too bad, but the thermal sensor and bracket add a chunk. It will have a 1TB SSD when it returns in a couple days.
I think there might be a W/U or two on a couple projects that will time out, so sorry wingmates.

Just sad. Parking enforcement did their job and evicted a homeless family from their van. I suspect because it wasn't registered. In any case they just dumped their stuff on the curb and towed home away, leaving them standing there. At least there weren't any small kids.

Grumble:

Nothing is straightforward. Installed Linux to replace broken windows10. In order to keep other half's data made ntfs data partition /home/username.

Having looked it up, I can accept that there are reasons for it not working but not the lack of warnings. - when trying to log in to account screen blanks for a second then I get incorrect password message. If I put an incorrect password in I just get the incorrect password message without the screen blanking. Looks like I have to back up and restore, using ext4 for her data.

Further Grumble

Running Smart Control to check hard disk health, Number of reported uncorrectable errors is 22,502 this morning, up from 22,499 yesterday. Time to look at laptop hard disk prices and also a further 8GB of ram to bring it to the maximum of 12 GB. This hard disk is only four and a half years old and has had light usage so is clearly contributing to keeping the MTBF down.

One "decent" shock landing on a desk/table/floor can wreck a new hard disk in micro seconds :-(

Plan is to replace with SSD. I can then see how much quicker installing 19.04 is to the SSD from a USB3 instead of USB2 stick.
