*long sweeeeeeeeeeeping blink* it's the standing in one place I take exception to. Expecting lost items to levitate themselves at you without even attempting some kind of enabling incantation to bring it about is just *stare pointedly at Jord* one reason why I used the term "other half" ... :)

As for the wild claims being bandied about, about who moved what - do you really want to go down that path? :)

But I'm a firm believer in the last place you look being about the safest place there is in a house :) unless it's in the first place you looked and didn't find it in of course - because that's a very safe place too!

Grumble to Chris for posting two words in Word Link.

Grumble in general about the discussion thread being autolocked even longer ago than the one at Seti Beta.

GD Winders Update! Must update driver ... okay. Day later driver stopped responding and restarted every half hour. Okay, rollback. Not a good move. Now half a dozen other things are tossing error messages! Gets worse. Now there is no internet connection. Staying calm, but seething. Check many things. Eventually a power cycle on the ISP equipment and the internet comes back. Now back to Winders Update and search for the update again. Reinstall. All the other errors go away. Maybe. Nah, won't be that lucky. Just waiting for the driver to crash again every half hour.

Ah. Nothing I need to worry about, not having an AMD GPU.

Any Aussie drivers ?

hehehe

Some I'm sure. Most just high on oil. Literally. After months of dry baking heat the rain releases the oil to the surface where it floats and reduces traction to nil. A good chunk more rain washes it away and pollutes the ocean.

Why does Godaddy have these irritating females in their mid twenties with a high pitched American twang on the end of their phones????? Mind numbing .....
Because they are an American company, headquarters Scottsdale, Arizona? I know. Shocking that you aren't reaching Mumbai.

Silly videography nowadays:

I don't understand the appeal to video producers of shooting the subject askance so the person delivering the piece isn't looking into the camera. Along the same lines, I don't see any point in showing the video monitor during an interview.
The mind is a weird and mysterious place

People seem unable to read, write and speak their mothertongue these days (ANY mothertongue). And don't get me going on people doing translations, half the time you need to know their original language to figure out that they mean.
Newspeak anybody?

Jord, have an opening here at work. You make more sense than many of the applications and resumes that I've just had to wade through. :(

Or we'll bang you up in the nearest police station.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-lancashire-35354061

A 10-year-old Muslim boy who mistakenly wrote that he lived in a "terrorist house" during an English lesson at school has been investigated by police.
The pupil, who attends a primary school in Lancashire, meant to say he lived in a "terraced house".
The boy was interviewed by Lancashire Police at his home the next day and the family laptop was examined.
Teachers have been legally obliged to report any suspected extremist behaviour to police since July.

LOL

that's ok, that's only doing away with spelling and grammer, writing as you speak. But from a help desk point of view, when they don't appear to comprehend what you say or are unable of making themselves clear after asking them again several times, then I quietly despair.
And of course, most of what you say/write seems to go in one ear and straight out the other, having failed to make contact with any neurons on the way through...
Not quite sure what happens to the stuff coming in through the eyes. I suspect it goes out the mouth, having suffered a similar fate.

Repeating. It's getting pandemic proportions. I wonder if you do that in daily life as well, that before you answer someone you talk to, you repeat what they just said completely.
Let me start off with my pet grumble peeve, people answering to a post in a thread, quoting the whole previous post and adding their single line of nothingness at the bottom. No editing of the quote so it's culled down to what they actually answer to; not being able to just reply; they're usually the first person answering and they need to quote the whole post, doesn't matter how long the thing is.

I would, but then I get answers like this. He still has a very long wait before him.

No one is for decorum anymore, it's all rules for themselves these days. Hence the never posters PM'ing me with their problems, although they then do ignore the request made not to do that.

But each their own opinion about it.. well that is, but for me, it seems. :)

The reality is that a web interface is not a threaded newsreader. The reality is some people use 27" monitors with thousands of pixels, some people use 3" phone screens to read. What is good for one is not good for the other.
