Hey,
I read this link https://boinc.berkeley.edu/wiki/BOINC_Security
I know that IBM is involved and it's actually say something..

I understand that this software is securely as possible.
I search the net and didn't found anything about an virus attack that happen because this software.

I would like to install it on a bunch of computer, but i have a little fear that maybe it can open a door to a virus or something like that.

So my question is, is there a list of known company and or universities that publish on their website or in any official way that they trust it and they even install it on their computer?
Is there any security company that publish an article about it and actually say that it's secure?
I think if i see an article from lets say Dell, Siemens, HP that said "we install it on our pc.." etc it would be a "Deadly Persuasion".

Thank you

Actually, quite a few companies don't want to advertise their BOINCing, some really big included who use aliases. Some hardware manufacturers even pre-install BOINC to include a Android smartphone maker. IBM makes no secret of it... they install by push to any device that's suitable and run World Community Grid by default.

ASAIK HTC don't yet pre-install it but they have branded their own application around BOINC. http://www.htc.com/au/go/power-to-give/.

As far as the security goes, the important thing is to make sure that you're attaching to reputable projects, since they're the ones who are allowed to download/upload files on your behalf, and run software on your computer without your direct involvement. I should think that the projects listed on the official BOINC pages should be reputable.
