It happens daily, cause the about 1 million WU’s being sent out at a time are being completed so quickly, and then there’s a delay before the next million tasks are available, why you should always have 3-5 projects running concurrently, so you jever run out of WU’s.

Free-DC stats is down. https://www.isitdownrightnow.com/stats.free-dc.org.html

Free-DC still unreachable
ERR_ADDRESS_UNREACHABLE

I can tracert to the main server address 68.89.69.138 but not ping it.

Found this info:

Turns out a car hit a sub power station that took out the power. His database server booted fine when the power came on, but the web server did not.

And if I did understand right it will be up in this weekend. Maybe.... I might be wrong on that...

What's going on with Climatepredicion.net at the moment? No WU*s available, the last update was 6 months ago, and they haven't replied to my mail asking about the current status of the project?

You could have posted on the project forums where I or one of the other moderators or Glenn a volunteer scientist would have replied fairly quickly.

There was a post within the last two weeks about a test batch in the thread new work announcements in the number crunching section of the forums. It will be about seven or eight days till the first of the five is returned at the rate it is going. This is also testing the website/server out after some changes were made. If all is well once some results come in we can expect a full batch to go out. (Linux only.) After that the next batch will probably be the OIFS 64 bit type of task. Again Linux only.

While BOINC is updating at the moment, when I try and go to the forums to get the link to the post, it is timing out. I have let Andy know though if it needs physical access to machines, this won't change till Monday.

As noted in previous post, I have let Andy know. He will if not on leave he will see this Monday or before. Otherwise Glenn will likely see it Monday.

CPDN main site is back up.
HI Dave,

Thanks for this. These systems are now back up. As far as I can see this has been an outage at the departmental infrastructure level.

Best wishes,

Andy

Free DC is back online, with most, if not all, of its features intact.

BOINC is also timing out trying to connect.
Edit: Or maybe not. A second attempt got the project has no tasks available message.
Edit2: Website now back as well. Before posting I did put it into downforeveryoneorjustme that confirmed it was down.

Project "DataFreezer" aka frostydata(.)com which NEVER PRODUCED ANY WORK is now a DEAD PROJECT.

DOMAIN NAME HAS BEEN TAKEN OVER BY A "PARKED DOMAIN".

If you still have it in your BOINC Manager program, I would suggest you detach/remove it from your project list.

It's back now but earlier CPDN main site was down. It has been up and down so much, I think because of some infrastructure work at Oxford they might if the name hadn't gone already have taken YOYO@home.

That didn't last long...
iThena comp and measurements both unreachable.

Anyone want to try and guess how long it will be offline this time?

Any word on why Dennis and iThena are down? I know Dennis was doing sort of a regroup and reorganize, and iThena is up and down on the regular, but does anyone have any additional info?

Message 115951 - Posted: 21 Apr 2025, 18:38:57 UTC - in response to Message 115950.

DENIS ran out of space last night and on the 17th, expect updates from staff on Tuesday.
Now up but no new tasks ready to send, all completed WUs uploaded and reported OK.
Updated beta app expected soon.
Many still unable to connect new PCs or get work on old, works OK for some, mostly WIndows.

iThena often runs out of space but no sign of sysadmin in living memory.

Denis appears to be having "growing pains" probably no disk space left.
Tried to go to the forums and received the message: Can't connect to database
