Temporary. Rosetta was up and working fine yesterday. |

I have been trying to upload to Rosetta from three machines since about 22:00 UTC yesterday (8 January). They are dead to the world. |

About the BOINC forums sporadically going down: David Anderson wrote: For about a month, the server has sporadically become extremely slow for web access, usually for an hour or two. |

Although the website is still functioning POEM@Home is now a retired project and should be removed from the list of BOINC projects. |

It appears that Collatz went down at approximately 06:00 UTC today. Still not back up. |

DENIS@Home went down some time between 22:00 and 01:00 UTC (http://www.downforeveryoneorjustme.com/denis.usj.es). "The ultimate test of a moral society is the kind of world that it leaves to its children." - Dietrich Bonhoeffer |

Cosmology@home is Out. It appears the server is there tracerouting it but the BOINC/web system is not responding for at least the past 24 hours. I sent a message to the Department there, but it being the weekend when I sent it, it may not have been picked up yet. ~Y |

Cosmology@home is Out. Downtime Explanation Hi all, apologies for the extended downtime we had the past few days. We had a hard disk failure that, since it came over the weekend, took a bit longer to resolve than usual. We are back now and there was no data loss, however its possible some of your clients missed reporting deadlines (since we were unavailable). If you feel you lost significant credits because of this please don't hesitate to contact me. We're working on making sure similar errors in the future can be resolved quicker. For now, sorry again, and happy crunching! 13 Feb 2017, 11:53:22 UTC · |

Anyone know what is happening with Rosetta? It seems dead to the world. Maybe someone at Washington State University flicked the wrong switch? |

Still unable to connect to Rosetta (or even bakerlab.org). DNS unable to resolve name. |

It seems the complete DNS-Zone for bakerlab.org just vanished from public nameservers. I wrote an email to the company that hosts the .org TLD DNS Servers in the hope they fix it. In the meantime you can reach the website by using the IP directly: http://128.95.160.140/rosetta/ the more technical inclined can try to hack their /etc/hosts file in order to get the Client working again. You can resolve IPs manually using this form: https://www.digwebinterface.com/?hostnames=boinc.bakerlab.org&type=A&useresolver=8.8.4.4&ns=self&nameservers=ns5.bakerlab.org |

About Rosetta@Home and their DNS issues, this is from their twitter feed: Rosetta@HOME @rosettaathome 23m23 minutes ago We're doing everything we can to get the slow moving http://dotster.com to get this resolved and http://bakerlab.org active again. Rosetta@HOME @rosettaathome 24m24 minutes ago We started the steps to getting it verified Monday afternoon. What should have been a 10 minute procedure is now stretching into 2 days. Rosetta@HOME @rosettaathome 26m26 minutes ago Due to a registration verification lapse our registrar (http://dotster.com ) and ICANN turned off DNS for http://bakerlab.org . Rosetta@HOME @rosettaathome Mar 6 We are experiencing DNS issues with http://bakerlab.org which may take a day to resolve. Sorry for any inconvenience. |

Hmm... Still nothing here. Is it possible that it will take longer in Japan? As a twisted workaround, does anyone have the IP address if they are using a visible one? I could use the hosts file for the machine that is running over deadline... |

I used 128.95.160.140 boinc.bakerlab.org in my hosts file, but it only gets you to the main page. Other servers and IP addresses are obviously required to hack it sufficiently, and not worth the effort. Thanks for the information anyway, but I'm just going to unhack it and wait for them to get their act together. |

From the Rosetta Twitter account: It would seem that Dotster hosting are dragging their feet over the issue; Rosetta have now appealed to ICANN to try and get this resolved. 1/2 @ICANN, @icann_president, @ICANNOmbudsman, @Dotster #RescueRosettaathome #RescueBakerlabdotorg Please activate http://bakerlab.org 2/2 @ICANN, @icann_president, @ICANNOmbudsman, @Dotster So we can continue research to help engineer cures for the future #proteindesign If you have a twitter account, the it may be useful to re-tweet these in order to put on some pressure on Dotster et al; Make sure you also include the hashtags: #RescueRosettaathome #RescueBakerlabdotorg At the least it will show Dotster users how they have failed both Rosetta, and the 1.2 million data cruncher's involved in the project.. @rosettaathome |

Hello from Rosetta@home - here's the scoop: the subdomain, bakerlab.org, has been locked by Dostser/ICANN since Monday. We missed ICANN's WhoIs Registry update request (OK we're lame, but the request looked just like so much spam!) and dotster.com locked things down. OK, not good but the verification/update process is an automated email send/request. BUT since our contact email address is "@mail.bakerlab.org" and the MX records had vanished from DNS we couldn't make this work. They are now trying to 'verify' that we who we say we are; we've sent photocopies of our IT staff's driver's licenses, copies of the University's legal status, letters from our research sponsors explaining who we are and who they are, blah, blah, blah. Now we're in some blackhole of bureaucratic bulls**t and we can't get ICANN to respond to our enquiries. So, rather than rant on and on about all of this, I'm merely going to say that the group is scrambling to get this straightened out. We're going to start a Tweet-storm at @ICANN, @ICANNOmbudsman, @Dotster and whomever else might be able to get things rolling. If you can suggest something to help us along, tweet to the group @rosettaathome. We are so sorry for our part in screwing things up but we're frickin' furious that this has become a 4+day outage... -KEL |

Hi, thanks for the update. Seeing a bunch of completed results unable to upload was making me nervous! I have hacked the /etc/passwd file (on Windows) as such: 128.95.160.140 boinc.bakerlab.org and now able to browse to your site, at http://128.95.160.140/rosetta/. But is the result upload server under a different IP address (or DNS entry)? My BOINC client (after bouncing the client/manager) is still not able to upload completed results. Thanks. |
