I have updated my post. Wonders of mobile screen and bad clicking.

As to why the **** it up.... That's best to inquire about on the project forums I linked to in my edited post.

Thanks, Dr Who Fan. I think I'll pass on going to a second forum to try and get answers...my hope was that my first post here would prompt that (even if on Monday as I'm writing this now on Sunday Evening, ET, GMT-5).

Thanks again,

Thank you, Dr Who Fan.

I'll try it again tonight and will follow up in that thread if I continue to experience issues.

One curious thing, though, was a comment that said something like either URL (with -new or without it) would work (paraphrasing) "because they're the same thing". If so, then I'd be surprised why BOINC would make a point of having us switch in the first place if it really didn't matter.

Thanks again,

Updates and project page are not available as of 27-28 Nov 2023.

I guessing they are trying to fix the botched server upgrade where they have it configured to a new url/address and caused issues for many people.

I was able to find the OLD home page url https://milkyway.cs.rpi.edu/milkyway/ is still available but can't get to login or anything else. Nothing mentioned on their Facebook either.

All we can do right now is wait for it to come back on the new or old address.

https://milkyway-new.cs.rpi.edu/

add

128.113.126.54 milkyway-new.cs.rpi.edu

in the host file or the computer (https://www.siteground.com/kb/hosts-file/)

Once this is done (or browsing directly on 128.113.126.54) you will find a discussion about this in the news section of the forum.

Some people claim that boinc could send back work to the project with this change done.

I had no problem accessing the project web site and logging in using the old/original url/address
https://milkyway.cs.rpi.edu/milkyway

I'm not near a desktop PC so I don't know if the original url is working on the BOINC program. Hopefully someone else can verify that and post.

Below is a copy of the most recent posting from the project admin stating the ORIGINAL URL (as posted above) IS NOW WORKING CORRECTLY.
We have changed the DNS setting such that milkyway-new no longer exists and the url milkyway.cs.rpi.edu points directly to the server IP and is not longer a cname for the server.
I am going through and changing everything on the server to reflect that change.

Hi, again,

I just added the Milky Way project back (I'd removed it after experiencing these issues with the URL) and it seemed to re-attach, using this URL: http://milkyway.cs.rpi.edu/milkyway.

Universe@Home seems to have gone down in the last 15-20 minutes. The only reason I noticed is it sends an "update" of some sort (especially when tasks are running), and it currently has a back off timer of about 10 minutes. Trying to access the front page results in a stalled page load.
BOINC (for Android) 8.0.0

Yes the Universe at Home website is still unreachable.

Nothing anyone can do except wait for the website to come back online.

LODA has been down for a number of days. Does anyone have any additional information regarding the outage or the project ?

Thanks

LODA project site is still completely off line. Does anyone have a contact point with the Admin or Staff on the project ? It is a project for a programming language "LODA" but I have not found a web location other than the GIT Hub
