Profile: David Riese

Your personal background.
I have an AB in Biology from Wabash College, an MPhil in Human Genetics from Yale University, and a PhD in Genetics from Yale University. I pursued postdoctoral training in pathology at Yale, afterwhich I was appointed to a nontenure track faculty position. After a long stint on the faculty of the Purdue University College of Pharmacy, I joined the faculty of the Auburn University Harrison School of Pharmacy, where I hold the Gilliland and Franklin Professorship and serve as the Associate Dean for Research and Graduate Programs. In addition to my administrative and teaching responsibilities, I continue to pursue my own research interests. My group is particularly interested in signal transduction by ErbB family receptor tyrosine kinases and their regulation by members of the epidermal growth factor family of peptide hormones.
Your opinions about BOINC
I participate in BOINC because I wish to support the underlying science. The agenda of my research group has lead me to be particularly interested in protein structure/function relationships and in methods for modeling protein structures from first principles.
