I am a retired software engineer, currently living in Orlando, Florida.
I've contributed to several BOINC projects over the years.
When I can, I like to travel, especially to Glacier National Park -
in Alberta, Canada and in Montana, USA.
Lately, I have been reading John Scalzi and Michael Bishop.
Your opinions about BOINC
I think BOINC is a way to get connected to scientific research and to provide some computational support.
1) I have destroyed CPU boards and memory on a laptop due to overheating.
Check for heat. Use Threadmaster (Google it) if needed to reduce cpu utilization.
2) Look into what your project really does. Some are not specific as to what they do. For example: "...that uses Internet-connected computers to do various calculations."
3) Have fun.
