Posted 23 Jan 2020 by Tom M Post: . . I must dare to interrupt the frivolities with a technical question without notice. Does anyone know if there are any repository Nvidia drivers (Linux) that support OpenCL? You mean this? sudo apt install ocl-icd-libopencl1 As JimB noted you have to install that for Linux OpenCL after you install your Nvidia drivers for the card. Tom |

Best Mining Motherboards for BOINC?
(Message 95443)
Posted 22 Jan 2020 by Tom M Post: https://www.biostar.com.tw/app/en/mb/introduction.php?S_ID=882 I have had experience with a Biostar tb350-btc. It has 6 slots and when the Moon is correctly aligned it will run as many as 9 gpus at once. I have a couple of ultra-stable ASUS MB's (a Cross Hair Hero VII and a Prime...) and they won't run more than 6 gpus. I have also played with a couple of Intel server motherboards and was able to get 7-9 gpus running on 5-7 slot boards. My next experiment will be with a "MSI B360-F PRO LGA 1151 Intel B360 ATX (7B25-001R)" which is a version 2 of that socket that will let me run cpus with 8c/16t's. The MB has 18 slots. An analysis by another Setizen is there are bottlenecks in the board design that won't let me run 18 gpus at full Seti@Home speed. Tom |

Posted 22 Jan 2020 by Tom M Post: I have successfully set World Community Grid to 0.0001 resources. I remember it not accepting "0". I suppose I should check that again. If I can get that setup then I could use the relatively well behaved Einstein@Home gpu tasks and use the World Community Grid cpu tasks as the backups on my 100% Seti box. It wouldn't get so bored.... Most of my boxes run a mix of Seti@Home on the gpus and WCG on the cpus. My bias is towards supporting Seti@Home but I want to be directly "socially conscious" and WCG allows me to do that. It is a project aggregator so I get a wide mix. Tom ps. The main website is still down so I presume the DB re-org is still munching along. |

Posted 15 Jan 2020 by Tom M Post: Maybe they are replacing the hard disks. And something hiccuped? Ok, Ok. I still had some Seti-Beta cpu tasks left so I lifted the processing limit on them. My #2 project is World Community Grid so I switched it to "maximum" production (its a cpu-only aggregator). And then I went to the E@H website and turned off everything that was cpu-based (at least in the title) so my poor gpus will get something. Looks like the system is fully committed... If you want to try something "different" on your cpu's try: https://join.worldcommunitygrid.org?recruiterId=1027297&teamId=4WZJMC7X02 I recommend that if/when you want WCG to play nicely with Seti@Home you use the custom setting and limit the tasks down to 4-8 per project. Then set a maximum_concurrent_tasks(sp?) to the # of threads you are willing to devote to it. The link causes you to be registered as "my recruitment" but otherwise should jump you directly in there.
