Where are those first 30 lines of the log then?

I no longer am running OCL2 and OCL1.2 on the same machine. I would have to move a gpu and un-install/re-install the drivers. While I might get to it. I might not. I sold one of my 3 OCL2 gpus which I performed the experiment with since it wasn't going to be able to do what I needed when I needed it.

The other two OCL2 gpus (r5700's) are inside a computer case and will take more time to setup a re-test.

This is a link to a message where someone else replicated my " can't get older/new Amd cards to run on the same system issue" [ur]https://einsteinathome.org/content/most-efficient-most-productive-and-cheapest-gpu?page=3#comment-177960[/url]

Maybe he is still setup?

I recently had the possibility of running a couple of Navi 10 gpus (R5700's) with a bunch (around 5-9) Rx 570/460 etc gpus.

I have discovered that the Boinc Manager won't recognize both a AMD OCL2 GPU and an AMD OCL1.2 GPU at the same time.

In the first 30 lines log I can get one or the other to display but not both.

I have tested this on Linux (Ubuntu) and Windows 10.

The Window 10 Device Manager reports a "driver" error for the Rx 570 and shuts it down.

I am not certain if this is the right message area. If I posted in the wrong developers area please move it.

I would consider moving the 3900x into a standard sized midtower case.

If you want to increase your CPU power consumption you are going to need the most space and best cooling you can afford.

I think there is a Windows app from AMD that will help you tell what kind of temperatures your system(s) are running.

There are some for Linux too but not from AMD. My AMD 3950x is running Linux because there was a super efficient gpu app for Seti@Home that I was/am using.

From a "bang for the electrical buck" point of view the econ mode might be the very best you can do.

Well someone is being busy. :)

It is the classic if you can't produce it completely domestically in a stressful situation someone can "hold you hostage" to it.

I am glad you are happy with your Amd 3900x. I was very happy with mine. After I upgraded to a 3950x I couldn't afford to keep all of them running so I sold the 3900x to a Seti Friend.

29) Message boards : The Lounge : Best Mining Motherboards for BOINC? (Message 96123)

My approach is to use low power CPU's like a Pentium Gold (2C/4T), or Core I3 (4C) to feed 3-4 high end GPUs on cheap $100 motherboards; rather than expensive multicore CPUs pushing multi GPUs over inefficient and slow PCIE lanes.
The cons of my setup is that I get 80-90W overhead on each 3GPU system (90W divided over CPU, board hardware, and PSU efficiencies).
Something you won't have to worry about with a mining setup; but then again, a mining setup runs much less efficient.

Thank you for your extensive and thoughtful reply.

With the Linux + the Tbar/Petri AIO I have been able to run the gpus at the default 0.1 cpu. So far the wall clock time and amount of CPU usage are tracking pretty closely.

I was worried about having enough cpu threads to actually drive up to 18 gpus which is why I bought an 8th-9th Gen MB and a 8c/16t cpu.

I have two 20 Amp circuits and a 15 Amp circuit that I will be splitting the load across. One 20 Amp circuit is completely unused so I am running it as my primary line now (with 10 gpus). I am going to have to get some 20 Amp rated surge-protectors. My current ones are overloading. Unfortunately the other circuits have more than the Seti box drawing on them. So it simply may not be possible to provide enough power to run all 18.

But wait, there's more :) I am going to have to buy a 19 gpu mining frame and longer UGREEN 3.0USB cables as well as 20 Amp surge-protectors before I can experiment with the higher end stuff.

I may have to rob some gpu's from some other systems for a trial.

I do have 1 RTX 2060 Super which according to a regularly updated report by a guy named "Shaggie" comes out with the best performance/power efficiency combo.

almost out of work on the fastest machine.

about 80% down on my 2nd fastest.

My cpu is still seti@homing on my Intel but the gpu tasks are long gone. E@H appears to be making out like a bandit.

But then I only run 4 cpu threads on that box. Egads I may have to start spoofing gpus again... :)

Did anyone knows where is the moon? ... Just in case.

The moon is a "waxing crescent" -- almost completely dark going towards a full moon.

My weather app indicates it rises here in Dallas / Fort Worth TX USA at 08:23 and sets at 20:21 [Central Standard Time( UTC -6 hrs)].

SETI IS STILL DOWN. More burning hair is needed!

Maybe a Wig would help?

Then you could "burn, baby, burn!"

My Set@Home cpu cache is down to its "last dregs" and should be empty within an hour. GPU cache is long gone.

I broke down and turned on World Community Grid to reduce the E@H mix.

If I am reading it right it started Maintenance this morning about 7am my time. Its 3:49pm my time.

Addendum (22 Jan 2020). We are now into the second day of the outage. We hope to wrap this up tomorrow. The reorganization of the database will help us reduce its size and this, in turn, should speed it up.

My preferred Non-Seti@Home project is running short of cpu tasks. So I just switched Einstein@Home to "normal" for one of my locations. Sure enough that computer is now fully occupied.
