You could be right.

Spent a fair amount of time yesterday analysing all the monthly logs.
All showed a slow increase in the daily usage cost.

Reminds me of a story of a long term successful bank ripoff. Systems guy wrote the interest calculation to take all the rounded fractional cents and deposit them into the last account alphabetically. Got away with it for years. Total deposits times interest rate equals total interest paid to all accounts. Then some bloke with more Z's in his name opened an account. Asked what the deposits were. Exposed. (If he kept his mouth shut, free money for years)

Would not surprise me if the same kind of fraud crap is going on when they derive the rates. All the fractions get added up and bingo another full cent higher for everyone.

Rounding is such fun. Standards have been published on it. Not all floating point processors get it right.

Grumble: Whether I download it via the app store or download the .deb file from the zoom site, on opening up Zoom, I see a message telling me an update is available. If I click on the link to download the update it takes me to the same .deb file.

Does the hash match?

grumble, provider A points finger at provider B after three hours level 2 support with screen share too.
Provider B's equipment at B's office passes all tests as 100% operational, still do a full software reload.
Provider B points finger at Provider A and notes it is common and A won't admit it, however it is so common B had to revise support policy and B's tech personally had the same issue!
Apparently provider A's equipment is not behaving correctly on initialization for B's equipment.

Grumble how the heck to get A to fix the issue (for me)?

Oh, A is a $104B company and B is a $3T company. There I named them.

May I state the obvious. Each project is owned by someone. They work for an institution. That institution has policies. The forums can not violate that policy or the project owner may lose their job. Don't forget each project may be in a different country. It may have a liberal political government or a very repressive one. Never assume that a topic, except perhaps the weather, that is acceptable on one forum will be acceptable on any other.

I'll suggest to anyone that they shoot an email to the moderator list and ask if a topic is allowed and what section of the forum is best suited for that topic. You may get told no, or might get pointed to a place with or without suggestions to keep it from getting explosive. What you won't get is mad because you don't understand the rules and customs in place for many years.

Amazon now own its own logistics company and they are starting to make noise of competing with the other package delivery companies. My beef is I can't track as I can with UPS or Fedex, heck even USPS has better tracking.

A grumble and a glory all in one

(Los Angeles, CA) – Today, the Recall DA George Gascon Committee filed a lawsuit asking the Court to certify the recall petition for Los Angeles District Attorney George Gascon. The lawsuit is the product of a more than 10-month review of rejected signatures, which resulted in the discovery of tens of thousands of valid signatures that were incorrectly or unlawfully rejected, negligent and flawed counting processes utilized by the Los Angeles Registrar of Voters, and an inflated signature requirement due to bloated voter rolls.

Now maybe we can get this DA who has never seen a criminal or met a victim out of office so his ongoing harm can be stopped.

Real?

Look at what happens to the raindrops after they hit. They just evaporate. Otherwise it is pretty good.

Imagine, arriving at the surgery center for a cataract operation to the fire alarm going off in the car park and the lobby. Is this a portent? Gets better, a couple days before they are to do the other eye, get a call the place has flooded. Something tells me that building is possessed. BTW operation(s) went 100%

As to gasses molecular weights N2 = 28, O2 = 32, CO2 = 44, CO = 30, ignoring isotope ratios. They all mix quite well. However in a fire, combustion products will be hot and hence rise. Hence why you crawl on the floor to get air.

The rush to eliminate "copper" landline phone service has been going on in the US for at least 15 years now...

In many parts of the US the telco's have "decommissioned" the old copper infrastructure and laid next to it all fiber optics from the central office to the sub division / greater neighborhood area aka "Fiber to the node."

A 2010 order from the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) that mandated all POTS lines in the US be replaced with an alternative service by August 2, 2022. But that date has passed and some legacy telco's still offer copper landline but it's not cheap.

My subdivision which was built about 18 years ago is fiber to the neighborhood and the new subdivision going in down the road from here will be all fiber to the premise / home for both the Telco and "local" cable TV provider.

Until about 4 months ago where I live was POTS only. The cable TV provider was and still is coax only. Now I have a fiber to inside. I appreciate POTS for what it is. Many years ago when I was a wee lad - the rotary dial days - the local telco installed a new switch plant and had an open house. The battery bank was ginormous and it only would power the plant for 45 minutes. Diesel generators held two days of fuel. What people don't understand is their local cell site may not have more that a handful of minutes of standby power.

Grumble: The font size on the forums and this site in general got bigger. I was perfectly happy with the old one.

Webmaster clearly getting older and needs the bigger font in order to read the pages.

Certainly noticeable. I can read it easily without changing to my computer glasses.

Why do I feel this portends some additional malevolent change soon to be implemented?
