OBTW Mac Users....

BOINC Version 7.24.3 Recommended version (MacOS 10.13+)

Was released on 30 Jan 2024

This version fixes a problem that causes GPU apps to fail after a Mac OS upgrade to Sonoma

- Many years ago there was a password cracking project possibly up to no good. It was shut down probably because it relied on Rainbow Tables, which someone thought made the project gay.
- I'm not too sure about Prime Grid. It probably helps the NSA to some extent.
- The leaders of the SiDock project are from Russia and Slovenia so it's gotta be sketchy. <= Disclaimer / Joke: I don't believe this & crunch it.
- Einstein@Home calculates data for the next generation of nuke weaponry.

The Last entry ....- Einstein@Home calculates data for the next generation of nuke weaponry.

I believe is totally false considering that the only work that Einstein@home does is Astronomical research related.

Hmmmm....

If they pulled the plug on the server it would be an act of mercy. Being an old Techie I had never considered an Ungraceful Shutdown in a positive way before, but there it is.

From the BOINC client side everything looks normal for WCG. Site can be accessed and Windows client can communicate with Project.

LODA project site is still completely off line. Does anyone have a contact point with the Admin or Staff on the project ? It is a project for a programming language "LODA" but I have not found a web location other than the GIT Hub

I have a Windows system that had an interruption doing installation of a BOINC upgrade. Now when I try to run the installer I get an Error 1500 Installation already in progress ..... and it wants the original installation finished. How do I close out the old installation ?

Thanks

Murphy definitely stuck his head my way.
Looking at Amazon, their price for a charger was £8.30 & probably with a "nice" delivery charge as it's only 1 small item.
Apple OTH sell it for £9.00 & without delivery charge & will arrive 12th.
While writing the previous post, get another delivery. Another Amazon 1, 1x13th.
Have they lost the plot?
None of the deliveries were Prime. :-)
Decided to order a USB-C to 3.5 jack adapter from Apple.
Mr Murphy don't like me this week.
Not a valid card number - WTF?
Just ordered one of their chargers earlier. :-(

You have lot's of reasons to scratch your head. Hope your hair holds up.

Yeah that requires a specific order. Hide post first. Hide title next. Then delete the post. If I just hide the title, or delete the post without hiding it first, the time isn't adjusted. Which is what happened there. Sorry. 😉

Thank you for all that you do.

Simply the new normal. WCG bone dry on weekends, and will stay that way until sometime on Monday.

Our new WCG staff may be well intended but they come across like "Babes in the Woods" with no supervision or guidance.

As this is a educational institute it kind of scares me to think that they are shaping our future leaders.

One of the treads for GPU's had a listed "fix" for an under preforming GPU was to disable "Hardware-Accelerated GPU Scheduling" setting in Display settings -> Graphics -> Change default graphic settings.

Would that be a one off for that user and his system configuration ? Or would the rest of us all benefit from Disabling that Windows feature ?
Keith do you have an opinion ?

Thanks

If I look at BOINCStats for WCG overall the project credit shows no credit granted after July 22. Am I looking correctly at this ?

No BOINC can not Purge Cosmology they are what they are. All that can be done is to try to educate crunching volunteers to use their system power on more worthwhile projects.

From the project's news board
------------------------------------------------

We are still trying to fix the suspend Linux wrapper issue but no progress yet.

A short conclusion so far:

- the latest boinc wrapper code is working with suspend
- suspend is working on BOINC client (view status) but status failed in background on wrapper and app (running further)
- linux and windows source code (without the latest changes) are the same where suspend is working on windows

If you have some experiences with c++ and BOINC let me know. The current wrapper source code can be found here https://srbase.my-firewall.org/sr5/forum_thread.php?id=360&postid=8934

CPDN has both an internal credit issue that they are looking at .... (Amounts of Credit)

AND a Stat's export issue that they are holding on until the credit problem above is resolved. Stat's have not exported in about 55 days.
