Hi,
requirements for yoyo@home are very less, the cruncher application does require less memory and does mainly integer operations. I don't know which kind of processor is best for it. I think mainly a lot or all math projects do mainly integer operations and uses less memory.

You can use a normal http proxy for this like squid or any other.

Nice work, but no cigar. Mac users could really use a list of just those projects which will also run OS X. While all projects by definition (how arrogant) run PC, Mac users have to plow thrugh each sites' system specs, one by one, to see if there is even any point in subscribing to that project. I cannot locate such a list anywhere. It is hard to believe that an overall system approach such as BOINC, laden as it is with documents, has left this one out. btw, there are lists of projects, but none contain checkmark columns for which OS they support. Can anyone point me to such a comprehensive list, or supply one to BOINC for publication??? Thanks, dwdockins@charter.net

Hello,
here is the list, but there are also non-BOINC projects included:

To extend your list:
4) "Update all projects"-button (There was one in ~5.2.7, but where is it now?)

On Windows, I don't think that can be done from a script... I plan on making a couple of little utilities for BOINC to do things like this.

But since it was built-in in a former version, I don't think it'd be a big problem to build it in again.

Hello,
I found it also useful, so I made a small Perl script and compiled it as Windows exe. You can download it from www.rechenkraft.net.

Just copy the exe to the BOINC folder and start it.

Hello,
the only thing what you have to do is to run a http proxy on your server. All other clients can use this proxy to connect to the project server.

I try to suspend DepSpid, but I always get the message

Why does it not work? I wan't to suspend DepSpid, because it crashes my WLAN connection.

Hello,
I think you can solve this use with at least 2 possibilities:

a) Go to the global preferences of a attached project. There you can set the time at which BOINC should run. So you can set it to idle for one hour.

b) You can use cron or the windows scheduler (what I do on one laptop) to stop/start BOINC. Use
boinccmd.exe --set_run_mode never
to stop and
boinccmd.exe --set_run_mode always
to start BOINC again.

So it seems that big std*.txt files are the root cause for this BOINC bug. The next time I will be asked to help for this problem I will suggest first to remove these files.

Hello,
after clicking abort in the tasks tab, the WUs are still in the list and marked with abort. Because the abort will be reported to the project server, so the server can reassign theses WUs.
To disappear you must select the corresponding project in the project tab and click update. With this the aborted WUs will be reported to the project and hopefully disapear in your BOINC manager.

This worked for me in BOINC 5.8.1.

Hello,
somebody reported me (as Boinc volunteer helper) this problem. He was attached to Seti and Einstein.
Reinstalling Boinc did not help,
but deinstalling Boinc, removing the Boinc directory and reinstalling solved it.

So I think it has something to do with the files which are created by Boinc during processing.

1) In the advanced view - Help - first entry starts http://www.rechenkraft.net/manager_links.php?target=advanced . Is it possible to configure this URL in skin.xml? i can only configure the domain.

2) If I click with the right mous button on the icon in the taskbar (windows) and select the first entry the page bam.boincstats.com is loaded. Is this URL configurable?

3) My skin on windows looks good, but on Mac the pictures seems not to fit. See in the middle above "Graphics Available".
Mac: Windows:

4) Would be also nice to be able to change the font color in skin.xml (for elapsed time, time remaining, application name,...).

Hello,
as described below in this thread I have also a problem with BOINC and my NFS connections on my windows XP professional. BOINC and my PC runs well, if I have not connected any NFS drive. If I mount a drive via NFS, the NFS connection is very slow. If I close BOINC the NFS mount is very fast.

Any suggestions to get closer to this problem?

Is there a way to run BOINC without the boinc manager (But I have not the rights to install BOINC as service)? May be it is bossible to run only the scientiffic application?

kind regards,
yoyo
