Hi all, so my Android phone was recently replaced by the manufacturer, and I'm still in the process of getting it back to the level of functionality my old phone had. One of those items was to reinstall BOINC. Okay, no sweat, done. But wait, what's this? It's not running and says I need to connect to a wall charger? OH, that's a setting, lemme go change that. "Power sources for computation"-- found it! BUT HANG ON... I can select the check mark next to wall socket, USB, and wireless charging, but the battery option is RED across the entire line & I can't select it? Well that explains why it's not running, but it ran fine on battery power on the old phone, so I wonder what's causing the weirdness? Anyone know?
Thanks!

Must be something local then. The red line is as far as I know to warn you that this isn't something Berkeley advises you to use. But selecting it isn't a problem with 7.3.12 on my phone:

Oh, ha, great thanks! Turned out the selection box was just hidden by the red. An invisible selection box. Thanks again!

I'm not sure you will want to compute on battery, unless you're planning on moving from charger to charger... Or have a very large battery.

The checkbox became invisible on some devices like my 2012 HTC One S, upgrading to Boinc 7.3.17 should fix that,

That's why I make an adjustment to the setting for CPU limit several times a day, to ensure that I'm donating what I can afford to at the moment. :-)

Good to know, thanks! But I'm stuck with BOINC 7.3.12 at the moment on my Android 4.1.2 phone, and the Market knows of no upgrades. C'est la vie!

Yeah, my Sony Xperia E has the same problem. I can turn battery on and off, it's just that the button is hidden for some reason.

http://boinc.berkeley.edu/dl/boinc_7.3.17.apk

Is it safe to use versions newer than the recommended version?
