I saw further down the page that Boinc on Windows Phone has been mentioned, and that there was no current plans for an App to be created to run a Boinc client on a Windows 8 Phone in the near future.

However there has been no update on any further progress. Could I register my interest as a Windows Phone user for a Boinc app equivalent to the Android one? Especially now as Windows Phone's are gaining a larger market share and have quite impressive benchmarks due to Window's efficient O/S.

Unfortunately, it would probably take quite a bit of market share improvement for there to be an official client. According to NetMarketShare, Windows mobile currently only has about 0.69% of the mobile device share, just behind Blackberry at 1.13%. By comparison, iOS is at 53.29% and Android 36.58%.

I think the best hope lies in the enthusiast community, that's where BOINC on Android started (with AndroBOINC and NativeBOINC) before the Berkeley team came on board and released an official app.[/url]

I found some different statistics showing that in general, windows is on the increase:

http://techcrunch.com/2014/04/04/windows-phone-android-and-ios-enjoyed-a-holiday-bump-in-the-u-s-blackberry-cratered/

http://techcrunch.com/2013/11/12/windows-phone-android-gain-market-share-while-apple-slips-despite-growth-in-iphone-shipments/

But statistics aside, what's the best way to look at creating an app to do it? I'm going to be honest and say I have very little programming experience, but as a long time lover of BOINC I would like to learn how to help out instead of standing on the side lines asking someone else to do it!

They are making gains in market share, but they are still a very small portion of the market compared to Android and Apple, and likely will be for some time--these things don't happen overnight.

I would look toward some Windows Phone enthusiast communities, I'll bet you will find people there with programming experience who might be interested in taking on such an endeavor. Just know that, for the time being, they will also have to program project apps for the phone until you convince some project that there are enough of you to make it worth their while.

Been contributing to Seti@Home since 2008. Have added more projects and devices over the years. Even have it running on my Windows 8 tablet. Just got a new cell phone, a Samsung ATIV SE, with Windows 8 on it. Didn't even occur to me that I wouldn't be able to run Boinc on it.

Windows Phone 8 and Windows RT are both for the ARM architecture, and therefore can't use the standard Windows BOINC application for x86 or x86-64. Currently, the only ARM support for BOINC is on Android, Linux or Raspberry Pi.
