I am behind a POOR QUALITY network, and any file larger than 500kb won´t be able to be uploaded from my hosts, no matter the hour. It affects any software that can´t resume parcial uploads, namely POP3 e-mail and large BOINC result files. I got some 5 finished WUs for SIMAP and CPDN that simply will never reach BOINC servers because of that; their uplink drops every time.

So, can´t the files be delivered in smaller chunks at once? Rosetta and SETI seem to work fine, since the uploaded reply is rather small. Edonkey doesn´t seem affected either. But I know that e-mail with some 4MB of attachments won´t go anywhere, for instance.

This condition will eventually fill my hard drives with chewed code for nothing. Zip/Split or short-CRC upload-resume-getright-style would do.

Please redirect this message to the most appropriate forum.

PS. Did I mention I am uploading from a 5 miles long Wi-Fi 802.11b link? Or the fact the radio antennas are larger than your average truck wheel, and hooked outside our ceiling with extra wind-resistant-support? I guess not.
