Hi,

I think that BOINC must have a say in projects of similar kinds. I think a lot of power is lost due to running both Rosetta and Predictor.

I'm not saying that one of them must close, and i know that Rosetta is doing more than protein folding, but for that common part they have, i think they must unify a WU form and put in on a common deposit and collect the corresponding results.

I think this is beneficial to all parties. I am curious as to why this is not happening?

I think that you don't really understand the purpose of BOINC.
It doesn't do ANY research; it's just a 'house keeper'.

It's a bit like saying that trucks, buses, and cars all have wheels, and run on roads, so therefore they aren't all needed.

I think that you don't really understand my idea.

If you have a road, and two people want to go from the same spot to the same place (same calculations), then why use 2 cars? it will only diminish the capacity of the road.

Imagine 1 project who wants to calculate the prime numbers.
Imagine 1 million projects who want to calculate the prime numbers.

BOINC, as a "road", should be more intelligent (this is an Administrative decision). Of course it can remain passive, the way things are now; but i think action is due to take more profit from the number crunching power.

Each project is independent from each other and need not answer to anyone but themselves and their funding source. Each does its own research as it wants.

Boinc is an open source platform and therefore it can be used by anyone and in any way they wish as long as they conform the rules that regulate open source software. There is no way that Boinc can dictate the kind of research these independent labs can do or to what purpose they apply it.

Only you as a volunteer worker can decide which projects to support or not.
