Message 50889 - Posted: 18 Oct 2013, 0:51:42 UTC

I looked around the forum and google and I was unable to find a solution to get my intel 4000 and geforce 660 GPUs working together on projects like Einstein. my CC config file looks like this but it doesn't seem to work.

<cc_config>
<options>
<coproc>
<type>intelgpu</type>
<count>1</count>
<device_nums>0 2</device_nums>
</coproc>
<use_all_gpus>1</use_all_gpus>
</options>
</cc_config>

You don't need to do anything special in cc_config to enable HD 4000 - see my host 5744895.

But for Einstein, you do need an up-to-date Intel OpenCL driver with v1.2 support.

And if that doesn't answer your question, then please give a lot more information, as at this moment it's just anyone's guess what it could be. (Shakes crystal orb and hears something rattling)

Boinc V. 7.0.64 (x64)

Here are my system specs via CPU-Z validation: http://valid.canardpc.com/pgm9bk

It is a 64 bit OS windows 7 ultimate

I am attached to projects: cosmology, einstein, GPUGRID, LHC@HOME, Seti, and World community Grid.

I am activity running all of the above projects.

I do not have problems with any projects.

My problem is Intel 4000 GPU will not process projects along side of the discrete GPU geforce 660.

I have tried editing cc config file (as demonstrated above)

Boinc can't detect your HD4000, the solutions are to either connect a Monitor to it, use a dummy plug instead, or extend the desktop onto it.

Nothing weird about it, it still isn't working. Your Intel GPU is still not being detected. Only your Nvidia GPU is being detected.

It was doing so in your first log as well:

Which suggests that at some point in the past, the intel_gpu must have been detected (otherwise there wouldn't have been an application to use the now-missing intel_gpu)

Einstein host 8688998 still shows a task which you successfully completed on 25-26 September. What changes did you make after that? Do you still have a stdoutdae.txt or stdoutdae.old file which contains log messages as far back as that?

I had removed my discrete GPU and was running just the onboard GPU at one point because I had to get the discrete GPU RMAed. That is probably why... so basically with the discrete GPU installed it wont detect the intel 4000 integrated GPU which takes me back to my primary problem. Does anyone know how to get Intel 4000 to work as a co processor to geforce 660 ?

Well, it can't be added as a coprocessor to your GTX660, as to be that you'll need an Nvidia product such as the Tesla.
But normally you have to either change a setting in the BIOS/UEFI that you want to use both the embedded GPU and the external GPU, or you have to add a jumper to that effect on the motherboard.

What brand and model motherboard do you have?

motherboard:

ModelAsus P8Z77-V PRO/THUNDERBOLT
BIOS American Megatrends Inc. - 2104 - 08/13/2013
CPU Socket Socket 1155 LGA
North Bridge Intel Ivy Bridge rev 09
South Bridge Intel Z77 rev 04

Windows is detecting the intel GPU so I figured my BIOS settings were correct.

SOLUTION FOUND:

Update drivers via Intel website to support OpenGL . Tada! I thought my drivers were updated, guess you can't trust Microsoft!
