Ooooh, we're forming a cartel. Quick anyone, we need a fourth for our intended quartet! A baritone if you can.

...So we have a little cartel of a Dutchman, a Frenchman, and a Gibraltarian. None of which appear to have English as their first language, and seem bereft of any basic knowledge of geography or world history. Quite an amusing International gathering.

And an International bloodline as well :-)
We went to Connemara National Park in Galway when we toured Co Mayo researching our family history.
So with recent Irish ancestors & being born in Wales, that debunks the claim of being a proud Englishman.

As for this...
I've even thought of a name for you Gary's Inveterate Tonsure Songsters. Check the boards to see if they are performing in a thread near you.
Bit uncouth from such an educated "English" gentleman old chap.

And if I have alleged otherwise, Sir - then I have erred, and accept an apology is due.

I do not believe however, that one from my good self is*

Could you please point out where I poked any fun at the inhabitants of Iceland?
Have I overestimated your ability to discern the missing subject in the latter section of this comment, Mr S?

At some of its inhabitants, Sir, was my take. ;-) Yours, was Iceland
Your effort failing to prove "the only true island in the North Atlantic" should have alerted me to the possibility, should it not*? ;-)

Allow me to make amends and assist you to clear up your misunderstanding: "Yours [your take] was Iceland*." What you choose to make of that is not my responsibility, Mr S, but perhaps you can point me to where you claim I said you did*.

So we have a little cartel of a Dutchman, a Frenchman, and a Gibraltarian. None of which appear to have English as their first language, and seem bereft of any basic knowledge of geography or world history. Quite an amusing International gathering.
If a truth stings, Sir - resorting to pedantic overkill of every minutiae is liable to get a response in kind. Message 80068 said as much. ;-) Ill-tempered responses, likewise*.

I see no cartel - just a singular lack of any sense of humour on your part. ;-)

FYI:
* [due]
* [not England nor Great Britain]
* [have]
* [poke fun at the inhabitants of Iceland]
* [are liable to get a response in kind]

edited: for further clarity for the sake of Mr S ;-)

Message 80102 - Posted: 10 Aug 2017, 6:52:21 UTC - in response to Message 80101.

As I have posted many times on the boards in various projects, everyone already knows that my parents were evacuated from London during WWII which is why I was born there. We came back to London just after VE day when I was 6 months old, and I have lived in England ever since. Both my maternal and parental sides are all English. I could if I wished have my passport printed in Welsh, but there would be no point as I wouldn't be able to read it!

But we do know that my Great Great Great Great Grandfather was a lay preacher in Co Mayo around 1840. What we don't know is whether he was born of Irish parents or emigrated to there from England. That is why we went to Ireland to try to find out. We found the location of the small village, but all that there is now is a crossroads in the middle of nowhere! Records of births & deaths were only kept before then if you were a local notary such as a Lord of the Manor or Squire etc.

So yes I can call myself an Englishman, and if I choose to be proud of my country that is my choice. You were born in Ireland but choose to live in England, are you not proud of your home country?

So your parents were British & you were born in Wales. That has never been a problem with anybody. However, you disparage all those who have circumstances similar to you. WHY?

My parents without the need to naturalise themselves were entitled to British passports making them British citizens just like your parents. Just like myself, you were born in a country other than England & just like you, I was taken to London & being a wee laddie, had no say in the matter. You have already been made aware of this (which proof of in your acknowledgement is available for all to see) so your "feeble" attempts as shown in the emboldened & underlined word is, shall we say, peculiar.

I have been piddling myself with laughter over the last few days at you lot being intellectually outsmarted, and clutching at straws, and splitting hairs in vain attempts to save face
Your doctor can advise on the aids available to you, Mr S, both urinary and cognitive. A notepad and pen might prove helpful to you during the consult. Or a third party perhaps. If there is one that cares enough to assist?

My dear Sir, I thank you most kindly for you[sic] concern over my welfare which does you credit. If I did attend my GP's surgery and acquainted him with this thread, first I'd have to wait for him to sop[sic] laughing, which could be some time.

A GP laughing at a patient, should be changed, Sir. Or is one that deviates from your script - more of an anathema to you?

Firstly he would say if you will mix with those sort of people more fool you. Then likely he would prescribe some top up Red pills for me, and an intensive course of Blue pills for you.
The fervour with which you do your research, Mr S, would strongly suggest you are meme-current.

A shame. I fear you are cutting back on the wrong online community

The Red Pill is hatred of women in the context of men who want nothing more than to please women, and who are living in a world with a sexual marketplace they find deeply anxiety-provoking. Briffaut’s Law, another of the key concepts of The Red Pill, encapsulates male powerlessness as an eternal truth: “The female, not the male, determines all the conditions of the animal family. Where the female can derive no benefit from association with the male, no such association takes place
The Guardian, 2016. Swallowing the Red Pill: a journey to the heart of modern misogyny, 14 Apr 2016

It* explains several comments you've made at Einstein recently, most adequately. ;-)

And BTW, the Atlantic Ocean meets the Mediterranean Sea at the Straits of Gibraltar, but Gibraltar is an Overseas Territory not an Overocean Territory. Although interestingly enough, there is an upper layer of Atlantic water which flows eastward into the sea over a lower layer of saltier and heavier Mediterranean water flowing westward into the ocean.
A GP that stays on script might be suffering wiki-fatique, Mr S. Again - I would recommend a change. ;-)

edit: Marks & Spencer, Lloyds and Barclays are not frequented by me, Sir.

Ah, identification of the problem is the first step to a solution.

However I don't believe pills are the solution, although they might slow the spread of the disease.

I didn't need to do any research, anyone that has seen the Matrix would know about the Red & Blue pills.
Indeed, they would, and recognise your treatment necessitated red pill therapy.

A point we can agree on, Sir! :-)

If you will read the Guardian that is your problem not mine.
Your insecurity and that alleged of your fellow countrymen when confronted with a step through bicycle, Mr S - suggested you'd find an extract from it [the Guardian] less challenging than The Telegraph, for once. ;-)

I do not recognise their interpretation of it.
Then I must put it to you again, that you: made "a statement without checking it for correctness with Wiki or other reference work first" (message 80100); or have spent too long on the wrong forum, self-medicating.

And where you shop or bank is of no interest to me or I would suggest anyone else.
I am relieved it was sufficient comfort to you that we have them then, Sir.

In 40 minutes, Big Ben will fall silent after the midday chimes for 3 years (excepting New Years Day & Remembrance Day every year) :-(

Essential repairs needed for the tower.
