Not possible, it's only 1m 54s long before it segues into Eye in the Sky.

LOL. Which one is that? A or B?

Evidence?

The science database is the source for Nebula data, which is under active development. 'Disabled' implies work in progress, not a failure.

Dr. A is having fun, let's not lament, IMO Nebula is the most important thing this project has done to date.

Please check back in a few hours.

I still think Informix is not man enough for what they are using it for. But what alternative is there?

Doesn't this better belong in the conspiracy theory thread? No evidence.

IBM says this about Infomix:
Fast, Always-on Transactions
Provides one of the industry’s widest sets of options for keeping data available at all times, including zero downtime for maintenance.

There's further news posted in the News section by Dr. Korpela. Database is corrupted. Likely to be down for the night.

We know that IBM "would" sing the praises of their flagship product, but we also know that Seti is having problems with it. Therefore 2+2=3 1/2. When this latest issue is over, I'd be keen to have one of Informix's top experts cast a eye over the Seti setup and make any reccommendations. If the database product is 100% then maybe there is an underlying problem with the hardware or the backup parameters. Servers use EEC memory don't they?

I would debate that.
No matter how robust the IBM Informix software may be, if the severs is it run on cough up furballs, that renders all observations on the software itself moot.
I suspect that the project's problems will not be alleviated until they have some better hardware online.
You cannot gold plate a turd, but Seti has been, God bless them, doing so for so many years now, and it is finally crashing under a load it can no longer sustain.

I can tell you, as one running long ago, hardware and OS's which were long since relegated to the dumpster, that their hardware is the basic problem. Running Seti on servers which are not longer keeping up to the millions of server requests every second? You figure it out. Their servers are just no longer up to the task. And I suggest it is the hardware that needs the most urgent upgrade.
It is the infrastructure that is failing, not the software.
Full upgrade needed. Any positive suggestions?

Here is what it comes down to.

I got people in places and people in things that none of you shall ever understand.
And at times, I do not wish you to.

I have been on the project for more years that most of you yapping about it.
Not all, for sure, but most.

I have my place, and it is not always a quiet or polite place.

I have personally donated thousands in cash to Seti at Home.
Because I believe in the project.

Some of you have as well.

We all have the same dreams.
So, get off of my back when I sometimes wish it was better.
