So we are (finally) ramping up our boinc contributions, and ive got a weird problem. I have 20+ hosts on the other side of a VPN that are working fine. I have 14 hosts i've tried to add recently that are not working at all. I'm using boinctasks to manage the clients, and BT conencts fine, and correctly reports no tasks ever get assisnged. I initially thought this a fault with boinc tasks, but now i think it's boinc. All hosts are the same motherboard/processor/ram/harddrive/video card/OS.
So this is what i have in my stdoutdea.txt

swap file is empty, ram usaged is at 14 gigs out of 32, and the folder boinc is run from (home folder) is at 3.9 gigs. This folder holds a lot more than just boinc. ive tried running both as the local user, as sudo, and as root.

Im out of idea's, anyone care to take a stab at it?

You're run out of disk space, change your computing preferences to allocate some more, there are three preferences that could be limiting disk usage:

Disk: use at most 10 GB

Disk: leave free at least
Values smaller than 0.001 are ignored 0.1 GB

Disk: use at most 50% of total

Try increasing the 'Disk: use at most' to 20 GB first, then increasing the 'Disk: use at most' to 60% of total.

Edit: and while you're at it i'd upgrade all those hosts away from Boinc 6.10.45, that was still a Buggy Alpha release, better to use 6.10.58 or 6.10.60 Minimum.

Any way to do this with the boinc manager being installed on the local machine? I'm not seeing what im looking for in the the xml files. Nor can i see it from boinccmd --help, or as a boinc switch. These boxes are used for their gpu computing, however, they don't have the requirements for the manager.

In the mean time, i'll try to find an updated version, but it was hard enough tracking down this rpm for rhel 6.3. i thin it's actually an rpm i copied off a fedora machine. Any suggestions for an easy upgrade on rhel?

Computing preferences are eithier set at one of your projects, for instance at the Computing preferences at PrimeGrid, these are a Global preference, you only need to apply them at one project, they then affect all your projects,
note: you have four available sets of computing preferences (default, home, school and work), so you can tailer you're preferences to your hosts, you just have to move the host to the right venue,
Or you can use Local Preferences from within Boinc Manager, these overide your Web based Computing preferences, but since you're seem to be using Computing Preferences from http://bam.boincstats.com you should adjust them there:

BoincTasks: Select the right machine in the computer sidebar, next: Extra->BOINC preference, select the Disk tab.

BoincTasks:

Select the Projects tab.
Select the project line and click on the right mouse button.
Choose "properties"

The disk info can be found at the end of the list.

Thanks you guys for your help. The response was great and just what i needed.

Just as an update this is what i did to fix the problem. I didn't have access to the boinc tasks machine, i only had ssh access to the machines. So I logged on to GPU grid's website, updated the preferences to allow 100 gigs of disk space use. I then logged into to each client and issued this command:
for url in $(boinccmd --get_project_status | sed -n 's/\s*master URL: //p'); do boinccmd --project ${url} update; done

All jobless clients updated them selves and requested and received jobs. Thanks again you guys.
