I am a newbie to running BOINC.
This maybe an old issue, and if so....
please accept my apology.

Last night, Rosetta@home had a server outage of
multiple hours. I'm not sure if the Admin
knew how long the outage would be, but I was a
bit surprised at BOINC's behavior when this
occurred. It seemed like the outage was
approximately 6-7 hours. The outage was scheduled
in advance.

In my machine's case, my machines appears to have had two jobs and both completed before the end of the outage.

It seems that BOINC knows approximately how long it will take to run a particular job. It seems that in advance of an outage, additional jobs could be sent out to ensure that CPUs would remain occupied during a server downtime. My machine may have lost 2 hours of processing time.

Was wondering if the project has considered some mechanism to increase each machine's job queue
during prior to outage, and finding a way to
ensure that each CPU has "more than enough" work
to keep CPU running during the server outage.

Maybe making this a configuration parameter....
---------------
BTW, I've been very happy with the operation of
BOINC on my machine. I have hopes that my
company will permit it's installation on
their PCs.

In your Boinc Manager on the left side hit the 'Your account' button and scroll down to 'Preferences'. Hit 'View or edit general preferences' and then down at the bottom 'Edit preferences'. In the 'Network usage' section is 'Connect to network about every', by default it's set to .01 I believe. Change it to a higher number such as .05, 1, or more (refers to days). This enables Boinc to dl more work units to your computer for it to process whenever a project is down. And useful for laptops when only hooked to internet periodically.
