Hi Everyone,

I am trying to use Boinc in my office computer, which is connected to the Company Domain and I have been experiencing some problems with Boinc.

Sometimes (quite often) the following happens:

When the computer goes Idle and you come back, Windows would usually show the logon screen, at which you should see the logged user as well as the input box to write the password. The behavior that I am experienced (ONLY when using Boinc) is that the Screen would keep empty, showing the blue background typical to Win 7 and even if I can see the mouse and move it, nothing else will happen, not even hitting Ctrl+Alt+Del.

I have trying finding answers basically everywhere without avail, so if someone out there has experienced something similar, any help is appreciated.

I wish to be able to keep donating computational power even at work, but with this issue, I usually have to restart the computer and lose all my opened documents and work spaces, which is very annoying and affects my work, therefore I will have to stop using Boinc if I don't manage to fix it.

Thanks everyone!

Which BOINC version is this with?
Have you got the screen saver set to BOINC, and if you do, then what's if you switch off the option for "On resume, display logon screen"?

Hi Ageless, thanks for answering.

It is the last version of Boinc.

Boinc is not using the screen saver, as it is disabled by default from the Domain, meaning that screen saver is never enabled.

I am performing some tests right now by closing the Boinc Manager and only leaving the tasks to execute in the background.

It has been running almost 2 days without locking the logon screen.

I will update back after some more time.

Thanks!

It is the last version of Boinc.

Do you mean the last version of Boinc released, which will be 7.0.36, or do you mean not the latest, but the last one released, which will be 7.0.35,
or do you mean the latest recommended, which will be Boinc 7.0.28, or the last recommended which will be 7.0.25,
or do mean the last 'version' which will be Boinc 6.12.43, or the last recommended 'version' which will be 6.12.34,
saying the last or the latest means different things to different people, please say the version number,

Or he may know something we don't know. If all development work on BOINC has stopped, then the latest version will indeed be the last version.

Hi Everyone,

Sorry for not being specific about the version I had currently installed. It is:
7.0.28 for Windows 64-bit (8.98 MB)

I can only see 3 versions:
7.0.31 Development version Download (8.98 MB) 7 July 2012
7.0.28 Recommended version Download (8.98 MB) 21 May 2012
6.12.34 Older version Download (8.55 MB) 28 July 2011

In the 7.0.28 even if I choose to close Boinc Manager still blocks my computer at logon. I am running Boinc in 3 different computers and this only happens in this one.

I attach the information from the computer I am having issues with:
http://paste2.org/p/2290531

I will try the development version to see hot it goes.

By "close Boinc Manager" what do you mean?:
- Close the window of BOINC Manager (icon stay in systray)
- Exit only BOINC Manager (icon disappear from systray but boinc.exe continue to run)
- Exit BOINC completely (boincmgr.exe and boinc.exe disappear from the list of processes = BOINC do not run)

By closing I meant to Exit only Boinc Manager and tasks continue running in the background. :)

I am using already 3 days Boinc with Development version: 7.0.31 Development version Download (8.98 MB) 7 July 2012

No issues whatsoever, although I am having Boinc Manager closed with the tasks running in the background.

Seems this is an issue with version 7.0.28

Any ideas?
