BOINC Manager's Status field in its Tasks tab currently sorts using alphabetical order. This doesn't seem optimal. More logical would be sorting by chronological order of stages:

1) Downloading
2) Ready to start
3) Waiting to run
4) Uploading
5) Ready to report

(I've omitted states I don't currently recall the exact text of, like errors.)

Forward or backward, this seems to me to be more useful than alpha order. In fact, adding bands of background color to highlight each stage would be even more visually informative. (I'd like this to help determine when to selectively suspend tasks or projects to avoid times my computers will be off the Internet or completely unavailable for extended periods.)

Has anyone contemplated adding this capability? Is there an existing alternative way to view progress like this? Thanks for any info.

Try using BoincTasks , you can set up any order you like.
