Hi,

I have a PC with two video cards: a GTX 560 Ti and a GTX 285. I have just installed the GTX 285.

BOINC is only using the GTX 560 Ti, and is ignoring the GTX 285.

How do I make it use both of the video cards?

**Extra Information for Experts**

1. At first, it was only using the GTX 285 and ignoring the GTX 560 Ti. So, BOINC is definitely capable of using the GTX 285.
2. There was an error message: "Warning: not enough GPU/CPU RAM. Backing off for 15 minutes". This warning only appeared a couple of times when I first installed the GTX 285.
3. My power supply is 650W, its an Intel i7. How would I check to see if the power supply is not enough for both cards?
4. Both cards have more than 256MB of video RAM, which is the minimum.
5. I have a PC with dual C2050 cards, and BOINC has no problem using both of them simultaneously.

This is by design. If you have two dissimilar GPUs in the same computer, by default BOINC will only use the "better" (more modern, faster) card.

If you want to override this default, you'll have to use a configuration file with the line

<use_all_gpus>1</use_all_gpus>

- see client configuration for details.

Hi,

Thanks, this worked nicely.

For the record:

1. My data directory is C:\ProgramData\BOINC\.
2. This directory is actually hidden on Windows 7.
3. I had to go into DOS and use "copy" to copy the config file into the correct location.

There must be an easier way to do this - perhaps add this as an option in the GUI? This problem was incredibly confusing for me, as I assumed that there was something wrong with my GTX 285 - was it the power supply? Drivers? BIOS? I spent a whole day at work attempting to fix this.

Anyway, thank you for the reply. Much appreciated.
