I am having a problem with SETI@Home no longer getting any work. This just started recently and I had not changed the BOINC software. I am using the latest version (7.0.28 x64).

Here is the relevent info from my event log:

9/6/2012 11:36:48 PM | SETI@home | Sending scheduler request: To fetch work.
9/6/2012 11:36:48 PM | SETI@home | Requesting new tasks for CPU and NVIDIA
9/6/2012 11:36:53 PM | | App version needs OpenCL but GPU doesn't support it
9/6/2012 11:36:53 PM | SETI@home | Scheduler request completed: got 1 new tasks
9/6/2012 11:36:53 PM | SETI@home | Resent lost task ap_02mr12aa_B2_P0_00093_20120904_25505.wu_1
9/6/2012 11:36:53 PM | SETI@home | [error] App version uses non-existent NVIDIA GPU
9/6/2012 11:36:53 PM | SETI@home | [error] Missing coprocessor for task ap_02mr12aa_B2_P0_00093_20120904_25505.wu_1; aborting

What I don't understand is even though it seems to have a problem with my GPU all of a sudden. It should still download regular work units for Astropulse and Seti (non-CUDA).

Keith Jillings and Alex Boyce, you both might to try the latest Boinc 7.0.33, it will tell you why it's not requesting work,
But because it also has a change to the (internal) GPU flops value that is reported to the scheduler you should complete any GPU work before upgrading,
otherwise old GPU work will error with Maximum time exceeded, new GPU work will get revised rsc_fpops figures.

http://boinc.berkeley.edu/dl/boinc_7.0.33_windows_x86_64.exe

Can you also post links to your host at one of your projects please.

I am also only getting work what seems to be sporadically. I even uninstalled 7.28 deleted all folders in program files and program data and installed 7.33. Still no new work. It seems Rosetta will only allow 2 results a day is that right? Why would they want to limit me to two jobs a day... Here is my activity log...

Claggy - thanks for that.

I've updated to 7.0.33 but still no new tasks. Here's an example of what I now see:

19/09/2012 14:58:43 | LHC@home 1.0 | Not requesting tasks: project is not highest priority
and
19/09/2012 15:05:31 | Cosmology@Home | Not requesting tasks: project is not highest priority
and
19/09/2012 15:07:25 | Einstein@Home | Not requesting tasks: project is not highest priority

As far as I can tell, all projects are the same priority. Those three don't have any tasks and haven't had any for some days.

Link to host - is this what you mean?

No, i mean like this, this is one of my hosts at Einstein:

http://einstein.phys.uwm.edu/show_host_detail.php?hostid=2355855

From this i can see i've got a Quota of 32 tasks a day, and can see what tasks i've done recently, if the errored, and i can see a few details about the computer, and what projects the computer might be attached to.

So what other projects is that host attached to?

If LHC@home 1.0, Cosmology@Home and Einstein@Home aren't highest priority, then that must mean another project is highest priority, is it eithier set to No New Tasks, Suspended, or asking for work and not getting any?

Please post the startup logs of your host.

I'm not sure where to get that hosts link from. Is this it?

Likewise I don't know where to get the startup logs. This is from the event log - does it help?

The link and info you posted is the one requested ("startup logs" == "first 30-50 lines from event log")
http://einstein.phys.uwm.edu/show_host_detail.php?hostid=4026608

19/09/2012 14:58:17 | Einstein@Home | URL http://einstein.phys.uwm.edu/; Computer ID 4026608; resource share 100

(similar links to other projects can be 'coined' using the Computer IDs from this log)

Now we can see that this computer is attached to 9 projects - it's very probable you have enough tasks on-board to keep the computer busy for XX days.

19/09/2012 14:58:17 | SETI@home | General prefs: from SETI@home (last modified 02-Sep-2012 18:00:28)
http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/prefs.php?subset=global

What is your setting for?:
Maintain enough tasks to keep busy for at least XX days

(No matter at which project you change this - it will propagate to other projects automatically when BOINC contact them.
This is Total work from all the projects in calendar days - Not per project.
)

But since you have this line:
19/09/2012 14:58:17 | | Reading preferences override file

... you need to check/change this value (XX days) locally: from BOINC Manager menu - Tools - Computing preferences - Network usage tab: Minimum work buffer
http://boinc.berkeley.edu/wiki/Local_preferences

*****

You forget to answer some of Claggy's questions:
"
- then that must mean another project is highest priority, ?
... (or) is it either:
- set to No New Tasks, ?
- Suspended, ?
- or asking for work and not getting any?
"

You can check the info in Projects tab - Status column like this:
Project Account	Team Work done	Avg. work done	Resource share	Status
SETI@home	BilBg	HardwareBG SETI 1320862.13	5032.19		100 (76.34%)
orbit@home	BilBg	Bulgaria	2325.00		0.06		20 (15.27%)	Won't get new tasks
Asteroids@home	BilBg	Bulgaria	0.00		0.00		10 (7.63%)	Suspended by user
WUProp@Home	BilBg	Bulgaria	4334.36		51.21		1 (0.76%)

(Do you see 'Won't get new tasks' or 'Suspended by user'?)

... and in Tasks tab - do you see tasks 'Running, high priority' and from which Projects?

It was set to 0.0 as were all the settings on that page. I've changed it to 1.0 days minimum and 1.0 days additional.
It still doesn't want to download from SETI - I get

No, the only message in projects tab is against Spinhenge, which is now defunct, and where I have set it to "don't get new tasks".
There is no message against any of the others. (That page won't copy-and-paste so I can't easily reproduce it).

I see only three statuses:
Ready to report
Suspended - computer is in use
Suspended - computer is in use (X.XCPUs + 1 NVIDIA GPU)

The word "Priority" doesn't appear, other than in that "Not requesting tasks: project is not highest priority" message.

It was set to 0.0 as were all the settings on that page. I've changed it to 1.0 days minimum and 1.0 days additional.

Since you say "on that page" (and not "on that window" or "on that dialog box" ) I presume you mean the 'Computing preferences' web-page.
Which will Not have any effect in your case.

As I already said - you need to check/change this value (XX days) locally
(it is you that created local settings in the past by clicking [OK] in 'BOINC - Preferences' window.
The local file (global_prefs_override.xml) exists: 'Reading preferences override file'
)

(That page won't copy-and-paste so I can't easily reproduce it).

You can make screenshot (as .png)
To extract text (from almost any program/window) I use SysExporter (very small, no install):
http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/sysexp.html

I see only three statuses:
Ready to report
Suspended - computer is in use
Suspended - computer is in use (X.XCPUs + 1 NVIDIA GPU)

The word "Priority" doesn't appear ...

You have setting (locally) to Not allow computing when user is active.
If no task runs there will be no words 'high priority' in Status because the full text is:
'Running, high priority'

The word "Priority" doesn't appear, other than in that "Not requesting tasks: project is not highest priority" message.

Forget about tasks running High Priority, that's what happens if tasks are in deadline trouble, not what we're talking about here,

We're talking about which project has priority for asking for work, the three red projects don't have priority, that must mean one of the others does have priority,
make sure none are set NNT or Suspended, What asks for work first? It could be Spinhenge's turn and is so blocking the other projects from asking:

Is this something new in BOINC 7.x?
Suspended project blocking the other projects from asking?

I would expect BOINC to exclude Suspended project from any decisions it makes (except the disk space it uses)
(as if the project is removed and only its files stay on disk)

Thanks for your responses. I don't understand them all.

Sorry, I don't know what NNT is. BOINC is something that runs on my PC when I'm not using it for anything else, to make the capacity available for others doing research. I know little about the details of how BOINC works (I don't think I need to know). I look occasionally to see how things are progressing, and noticed that some projects aren't getting any work.

As far as I can tell, all projects have the same priority - that's what I thought the "resource share = 100" means, and that's what I intended.

Spinhenge is defunct, so set to "no new tasks" to stop the PC connecting to the (dead) server.

If there's no valid reason (other than random hiccups) for some projects not getting work, I'll just leave it.

It's strange that I've been running SETI for something like 13 years, and have fewer work-unit credits for that than for some that I added much more recently. Clearly SETI either lacks work quite often, or credits computer use at a lower rate. But I'm not bothered about that, if SETI aren't.

By "page", I mean "Page on my screen". Whether it's on a website or window or dialogue box, I can't tell. It's all stuff I click on in BOINC.

Changing those minimum and maximum settings has resulted in a much larger list of tasks pending - between 12 and 20 each for Einstein, Malaria and Milkyway - but still none for SETI, LHC or Rosetta, and only one each for Cosmology and Climateprediction.

I dont't get new tasks for a few days. I've tried several things like detaching projects with no tasks to send, and setting min. work buffer to 3 days and max. to 4 days. But I only have 2 tasks while 6 CPU are set to be used by BOINC. That's the startup log:

Seemingly BOINC tries to get GPU tasks first (see below), which I don't want to have and none of my projects offer GPU tasks for Mac. I have stopped usage of GPU, but is any possibility to deactivate the GPU usage completely so the BOINC manager wont search for new GPU tasks?

I have stopped usage of GPU, but is any possibility to deactivate the GPU usage completely so the BOINC manager wont search for new GPU tasks?

Make a cc_config.xml file in your BOINC Data directory, and add into it:

<cc_config>
<options>
<no_gpus>1</no_gpus>
</options>
</cc_config>

See client configuration in the BOINC Wiki for more information on this file and its contents.
