Suddenly the seti project is missing from my Boinc Manager. When I go to Tool > Attach to project or account manager ..." I get the error message "The password you have entered is incorrect, please try again". But I was never prompted for a project or a password.

So you went to your Seti account and logged in there? Tried to change your password there?
And if logging in didn't work, because of an error message, you used the temp log in link option, then changed your password and then tried again?

And if all of the above did not work, you posted about it on the Seti Help Desk forums?

Version 6.10.58

Windows XP

And yes, you're correct about the problem I'm having. I don't have any trouble logging into my account and my other 4 computers are working fine with BOINC.

Just on this one xp machine the tray icon says "Not connected to a client" and if I try to attach it does not prompt for a password just says "The password you entered is incorrect, please try agian".

Problem is resolved.

Perhaps it helped to log into "Your account" (which I had not done before in response to this problem).

I noticed that although BOINC did not indicate I was attached to any project and would not allow me do so, that I still had processes running in my task manager for the seti project. So I rebooted my entire network: modem, router and all the machines. Then when I started my xp machine BOINC showed the seti project without me having to try and attach it.

Not sure what the problem was but I'm happy now. Thanks for the help.

If Boinc Manager (the GUI) isn't connected to the Boinc client, then there's no way you can attach to any projects,

All you need to do is go 'Advanced>select computer>O.K' (you con't need to put any details in if it's the localhost that you're connecting to)

This should reconnect Boinc Manager to the client, and your projects and tasks should be visable again,
