Just a quick question as i cant find it answered anywere. I want to run boinc on 2 pc's but not as a team. can i just install boinc on the other pc and use the same key's (or user and password) as on the main pc. will this not duplicate the work already being done on the main pc. the second pc is an old PII dual cpu so i am only going to use it for running boinc projects exclusively. do i need to set any specific setting. which is the best OS for just running boinc (no frills pc or software) to get maximum efficiency.
Thanks Brett

For sure you can use the same username and keys for a second pc. BOINC then downloads new work for the second PC from the projects you are attached to with the second one...

Many thanks. Any perticular OS to use to keep os rescourses to a minimum allowing more to run projects. I have the options of Linux v9, WinXPpro, Win2000, WinME, WinNT 4x, Win9x

BOINC on Linux has a known issue with low benchmark scores. Compared to Windows, this results in about half the amount of credits being claimed - if credits are important to you.

XP and 2000 are the preferred Windows OS's. NT4 is probably OK too. XP is the latest so I would personally recommend it.

Just my opinion.

I'm running 6 machines with XP-Pro (at home), one with 2000 (at work, no choice) and one with SuSE Linux 10 (my sandobox machine at home).

OK Thanks, will use XPpro. not fussed about credits, want the pc to be its most productive as it will be dedicated to boinc projects solely

Many thanks to you for your time and attention
