I know I've been on about this for a bit now, but on my laptop that is turned off twice per day Mon-Fri and left on all weekend I see the wu estimation time (WET) move about significantly and hence BOINC goes from round robin scheduling to EDF mode when the wu estimation time is increased. In e-mail conversing with John McLeod he tells me that the WET uses the wall time in its calculation, so the act of turning my laptop off and turning it back on anywhere from 30 to 60 min later appears to cause the WET to increase at the end of the wu processing even though the actual cpu time is lower than the previous WET. This doesn't make a lot of sense to me. Currently the WET for LHC on my laptop has increased to 10hrs whereas previously it was at 6.5hrs, actual cpu time is around 4hrs45min.

The severity of the increase in WET on getting a wu that goes longer than the WET also appears too harsh (mind you I have never seen a wu cpu time go longer than the WET).

BOINC 4.72 / LHC 65% / SAH 35%

Live long and crunch.

IIRC, my Einstein wu's WET is +/- 6 odd hours, whereas cpu time is usually +/- 8 odd. It's the only project that I've seen like that.
