Any ideas what's messed up with my account? Recently some projects (but not others) spontaneously reset and disappear from my computer. They do this within hours or even only minutes of when I reattach to my project accounts through the BOINC Manager. I joined BOINC in August 2010 and after a time was participating in 5 projects with no problems. The spontaneous resets started in late November, a few hours after I added a second computer to the my project account on cosmology@home. Ever since then, although cosmology@home lives happily on both machines, 3 of my *other* projects keep evaporating - from the local BAM task list, from the project list, and from my /BOINC/Data/projects directory. climatePrediction, MilkyWay, and Seti are affected this way. (VirtualPrairie is unaffected.) I think that BAM! on the server is issuing the reset commands, and I have no idea why. Most recently: Today I reattached to cpdn for the 3rd or 4th time in the last ~2 weeks, downloaded all the FAMOUS and HADCM3 files, received 2 FAMOUS tasks - and then 5 minutes later the project reset and vanished. When this happens I also find that I have to reregister with BOINC on line before I can login, as BOINC no longer recognizes my email and password. Here is the message stream from today's event, starting with the last successfully downloaded file from cpdn. The event starts and ends like a normal periodic preferences contact with BAM!, but in between it resets cpdn:

When using an account manager, attach to the projects through the account manager (tell there which ones you want to run). You do not need to separately attach to projects in BOINC Manager then. Any projects that are found through BM that you are attached through through an account manager, will be detached and all work for that project is then lost from your computer.

BOINC isn't a project. You can register to the forums here, but that's for the forums then only. You don't need to register to BOINC in any way or form to be able to do any work on any of the projects.

Projects are a separate thing from BOINC.
Any project related registration problems, first off check that your browser isn't blocking java or javascript. That's needed on the pages. Else try to take up registration problems with the projects themselves. They'll normally have some Help desk forums.

... except World Community Grid, the very first time an account has to be created on their website... SSL secured.

Even to work with WCG you need not register here at the BOINC site. ;-)

You are right though if you were thinking of using an account manager (especially BAM!). Then you indeed have to register first at WCG before using BAM! for those projects, since they don't follow the BOINC standards.
