How do I tell BOINC to use a new physical disk drive as its data directory? Must I reinstall BOINC to do this? Or can I just move the BOINC folder and change a simple line of code somewhere?

The option for changing the default location of the 2 parts of BOINC, is on an extra screen accessed by clicking the Advanced button, which is on the 3rd screen of the install process. There are a couple of other options there as well.

Must I reinstall BOINC to do this?

It's the easiest way (assuming windows).

Uninstall BOINC; move the data directory (it won't be deleted by uninstalling); install BOINC following the hints of Les Bayliss.

You could also modify the windows registry after stopping BOINC and moving the folder.

The problem here is permission on the folder, on Vista and 7. You can only get the permission repaired by installing BOINC, after moving the data directory.

I've run into that problem on Win7, with moving the data directory from C: to D:, then just changing the registry. All work thereafter returned erroneously due to permission problems.
