I have OpenFiler running on a box that has two quad core Xeon processors and it is a shame to waste the processing capacity. Has anyone succeeded in running BOINC on OpenFiler? Damn Conary system!

I have been looking into this the past couple of days and so far I haven't found anyone claiming to be busy with porting BOINC to OpenFiler. I did notice you posting about it on the OpenFiler forums, which is good. Let's hope someone there will react.

Thanks for looking. As OpenFiler is built on rPath I have also been looking there but have yet to find any ports of BOINC that are declared working on rPath.

As open filer it is a x86 Linux, there is not port required.
If there is a console is on the system, you can install the standard BOINC client for Linux on x86 or x86_64, depending on the CPU.
But, you take care about the cooling, if the system has no fans.

Sadly I have failed in every attempt to get the 'standard' linux package running, usually because some dependancy has not been met. Hence my reaching out to the experts for assistance. So, again, if ayone has succeeded in getting the client running on Openfiler I would be very happy to see the approach taken.

You may be facing another hurdle. Even if you get BOINC to run on OpenFiler, then it remains to be seen if the sciences compiled for Linux will run on it, once you're passed the point of giving the right identifier to the project servers. That is of course, if your plan is to solely run it as a client and volunteering time to publicly distributed grids.

If you are interested, we can test to build a package for OpenFiler which includes all the missing dependencies.
Feel free to contact me via PM.
