I can't run version 6.6.38 because it keeps telling me my password is wrong (when I've never changed it and don't even know where to go to change it) and I can't run version 6.10.43 because my projects keep telling me I don't have a gpu (even though I didn't want to use the gpu. I've been running Seti for over 10 years and I've never had trouble like this before. I'm running Intel dual 2.5G with 3G of ram and a radeon HD4350 video card, with windows XP. My projects are Seti, Milkyway,LHC,and Einstein and every one of them won't send me new work because of the GPU thingy. Can any one help me out here?

Addendum to what Sekerob said, there are two schedulers built into the client now: a CPU scheduler and a GPU scheduler. The asking for work for the GPU will not be in the way of asking for work for the CPU. They'll ask for work separately.

So if you can't get work for any of the projects, or BOINC is stating it's asking zero seconds of work for them, then you either have those projects set to No New Tasks (Check in projects tab->Status column->will show "Won't get new tasks"), or your Network Activity is set to Suspended, or BOINC deems you still have enough work for those projects.

Do know that in BOINC 6.10 there's an extra button in the Tasks tab, which switches between Show all tasks and Show active tasks. When it shows "Show all tasks" the other function is on. Active tasks are only those running, suspended and waiting to run. All tasks Waiting to start and Ready to report will not be visible.

I thank you both for your swift reply. I was able to follow most of what you guys are talking about. I'm still not clear on a few things such as ( You can add a line to the [to be created] cc_config.xml <no_gpus>1</no_gpus>. Now I'm sure that this is a good thing.....but I don't have a clue as to what that means. But I have been running the 6.10.43 for about 3 days now and it is starting to recive units for the CPU from almost all of my projects except Milkyway@home, and the following is all I get from them:
4/25/2010 9:22:56 AM Milkyway@home Message from server: No work sent
4/25/2010 9:22:56 AM Milkyway@home Message from server: An ATI GPU supporting double precision math is required
4/25/2010 9:22:56 AM Milkyway@home Message from server: Your computer has no NVIDIA GPU

Any thing else you can think of?

Again thanks for the info.
MikeL.

Go to your account at Milkyway, change the project preferences so that it shows:

Use CPU
(enforced by 6.10+ clients) yes (check)
Use NVIDIA GPU if present
(enforced by 6.10+ clients) no (not checked)
Use ATI GPU if present
(enforced by 6.10+ clients) no (not checked)

Save the changes to the web site and either wait for Milkyway to contact the project again, or do a BOINC Update on the project (BOINC Manager->Advanced view->Projects tab->Select Milkyway->Click Update).

This will force BOINC to use these preferences for that project only and stop it requesting work for the Nvidia and ATI GPUs. You can do similar settings on other projects. Not all have the option for the ATI GPU though.
