Hi,

Using version 1.10.43 on Vista x64 I just noticed that there are some status messages: Missing GPU, Paused.
Can't seem to get my GPU to work.
I have a dual core processor and it is working fine. I used to be able to have the GPU handle another task.

I installed Nvidia drivers 197.45 from 191.07 and that doesn't help.

Is this a Cuda thing?

I think I use Cuda driver 2.2 vistax64 185.85

Please advise.

From what version did you upgrade to 6.10.43?

Do you use Remote Desktop Services to connect to the machine?

Did you install BOINC in Protected Application Execution (service) mode?

Gruß,
Gundolf

I upgraded to 6.10.43 from 6.6.28. I skipped the 36.

Remote Desktop Services? What? No. I don't use any of that sort of stuff.

I didn't install it in protected mode. I re-installed checking advanced options to see if that was the case but I have never installed Boinc using that protection.

I tried using 6.6.36 but that doesn't have any effect.

So, which driver are you using? That wasn't clear from your first post.
Minimum to use on BOINC 6.10 is 185.85

You don't have a cc_config.xml file with a <no_gpus>1</no_gpus> line in it in your BOINC Data directory?

I use 197.45 now. Before I used 191.07. Before that, 185.85.

And no, no such xml files.

I have solved the issue by reverting to NVidia driver 197.13 after installing Boinc 6.6.36.

I suspect if I upgrade once more to 6.10.43, it will still use the GPU. But I am not going to try that. I think the latest Nvidia driver causes the problem.

When a new Boinc version arrives, I will install it. If it does not work, I will revert to 6.10.43. If that does not work, I will try 6.6.38 or 6.6.38.

Likewise, if a new Nvidia driver arrives, I will skip the current 197.45 and if Boinc uses the GPU, then all is fine.
