It might be instructive for us peons if there was an explanation of the process of testing and release of BOINC builds.

We saw the release of 6.10.38, and I think 6.10.37, only to then see them withdrawn.

No disrespect intended, but BOINC is beginning to resemble Mozilla, where there is simply not enough testing before a new release is brought to the user community.

If there is a link to an existing explanation, I would appreciate seeing it.

If you think you can do better, join us. :-)

Check the Test summary of a lot of previous versions. See what we found. Click on the link to the version, click on any of the green, yellow and red bars to find comments.

We cannot test on every possible imaginable hardware/software combination out there without the people with those hardware/software combos entering the alpha test or eventually running the release software and finding things the testers haven't found due to not having the exact same hardware/software combo as the next person.

How much more testing do you want done? Bug-free is impossible.

If there is a link to an existing explanation, I would appreciate seeing it.

Here you go:

6.10.36 was pulled while we completed an audit of all the code changes between what was in trunk and what was in the 6.10 branch. We found only two differences (beside message log changes) which have been fixed in 6.10.37+ releases.

Thanks for the reply. If I was technically adept, believe me I would help. Alas, I am not so gifted.

Is this version a combined 32bit 64bit release?

See http://boinc.berkeley.edu/download_all.php

6.10.43 is for Windows (both 32bit and 64bit versions) and for the Macintosh.
6.10.44 is for Linux (both 32bit and 64bit versions).

I have 6.10.43 on a Vista Machine and on an XP machine. Everything is fine. I will be moving three other machines, one Vista and two Win 7 machines to it this week end.

Is there going forward, thoughts of limiting the % of GPU utilization? Currently either 0 or 100 makes the decision to only used GPU when not using the machine
