Just downloaded and installed BOINC and signed up for Rosetta@home. The program itself seems to run OK. However the BOINC screensaver is constantly flashing between the screen graphics and the Windows taskbar (rate of about 3-5 cycles/sec). No other Windows screensaver behaves this way, only BOINC.

I've tried playing with the settings to no avail. I've tried:

- setting the BOINC idle time both < and > the screensaver idle time
- varying the % CPU usage
- varying the % graphics usage
- setting BOINC to run only on idle or always on

My system was built about 2 months ago and has the most recent drivers installed. My setup:

AMD Phenom II X4 945 Quad Core
4 GB RAM
Gigabyte GA-MA785GMT-UD2H (IGP = ATI Radeon 4200)
Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit

I'm not familiar with the details of Rosetta.

Does it have it's own screen saver?
If so, is it this which is flashing, or is it BOINC's own screensaver?

One thing you could try, would be to set the project to No new work, and then either complete all of the work units, or Suspend all of them, leaving just BOINC itself running, and see if the flashing stops.

It's the BOINC screensaver. It flashes with other projects too. Viewing the project graphics is OK, it's just the screensaver which flashes.

Securities interfering? The .scr needs to be able to hook into the boinc.exe via RPC/Localhost.

How do I check that or test that theory?
