Could be the same problem I reported here. You might try going back to an earlier BOINC version.

- How did you install BOINC, was that with the protected application execution mode (aka Windows service) on or off?

- When you check with Windows Task Manager, do you have both the boinc.exe and the boincmgr.exe running at the time that BOINC Manager cannot find the client?

- Did you install BOINC to the same directories as you were using before?

- When you follow the link of the BOINC Manager that you use to start BOINC with, does it go to the correct directory (the one you installed BOINC in)?

- Have you tried a reboot of the system?

- Was something else updated on your system that could have broken the connection BOINC uses? Think firewalls, anti-virus, other anti-malware programs.

- Which Firewall are you using?

I had the same problem, and I'm not connected to Sztaki or Lattice Project, although I was having problems with a parameter file download for Cosmology.

The problem was solved by installing 6.4.7 as well, but then my QMC WU kept exiting with zero status but no finished file. I then went back to 6.6.38 and that seems to be working now.

Seems as though reverting to an earlier version of BOINC Manager allows the problem to clear, and once that's done then it's possible to go back to the latest version again.

Rom is sure he has fixed the problem of the Manager losing the connection with the client. Since a public release of BOINC 6.10 will probably not happen until after the Workshop in Spain, he will back-port it to the 6.6 and 6.8 ranges of BOINC. Expect a new version of those to be available soon.
