I have boinc installed on an older computer that has 2 drives the main drive is small and very little room, the second drive is larger and has lots of room, can I direct Boinc to use this drive as it's working drive instead of the drive it was installed on?

Yes.
Just un-install BOINC and start again. This time, look for the button that says Advanced
This will take you to a similar screen, but with some extra options, such as specifying which drive to use for BOINC.

Just un-install BOINC and start again.

Also make sure you copy your BOINC data directory to the second drive before reinstalling if you want to carry on with your current set of work.
