All my PCs (Windoze Vista, Debian testing and Ubuntu 9.04) are suddenly reporting "Error 417" when trying to connect to ANY Boinc project.

I can't find the explanation anywhere. Can anyone enlighten me?

Thanks, folks.

I should have looked further back in the forum (I only looked back 3 months). For some reason a search on Error 417 didn't work and I foolishly didn't try Google....

However....

Changing http worked on my 3 Linux boxen (where cc_config.xml existed), but had no effect on this Vista box (where the file didn't exist.) Guess I should try the old Windoze fallback and reboot.

One other question which is not addressed in http://boinc.berkeley.edu/wiki/Client_configuration: Is the bare cc_config.xml with just the options section OK, or should I also add log_flags section?

Cheers

Answering part of my own question, on Windoze Vista all the config files are under \Program Data\BOINC, not \Program Files\BOINC which has all the dlls and binaries only.

Cheers

No, you can have a cc_config.xml with as little of the flags or options as you want. If you only want to run with the <http_1_o> option, then that's fine.

As to the other thing, BOINC 6 splits the binary directory from the data directory.
The binary directory is in C:\Program Files\BOINC (on all Windows operating systems), while the data directory is either in C:\Documents and Settings\Somewhere down the line for Win2k and XP and in C:\Program Data\BOINC for Vista and above.
