Is it possible to pause boinc while certain applications run? like.... if i start playing counterstrike have it pause the tasks until i get out?

For some reason with ANY projects running i can still see a difference in choke/fps.

and this is with a i7 920 + gtx295...

it would be a nice option in the preferences as a rule...

See my CUDA FAQ which shows you how to do this with the <exclusive_app> option. It's in the Ways around it? section.

Although there is one caveat: BOINC 6.4 will not unload the task from the videocard's memory, so if one is running in it, it will continue even when you suspend or otherwise pause BOINC.

BOINC 6.6 which will come out next week has a fix for this, it will unload tasks from the videocard's memory, as long as the task has at least checkpointed once.
