BOINC 6.4.7 does not behave very well.
It does not throttle down when the computer needs to do anything.
It does not susend, as per settings when I work on the box.
Snooze does only work for a few minutes, then it start running again.

If you finally got cuda to work, then it's probably something to do with that.
BOINC 6.4.7 with cuda is at a fairly early stage of development, so you need to expect problems, such as you describe. (e.g. The cuda science app not letting go of the graphics card.)

Actually not, I've got cuda to work, but then I swapped display card, and no CUDA device anymore, allthough it is a CUDA enabled card and driver. (EN8800GTS)

Hello everyone,

I'm also having problems with version 6.4.7. It seems at time that it will toggle between between projects. It doesn't happen all of the time but will spend about 30 seconds on a project then stop and move on to another project and 30 seconds later will go back to the original project. Then it will toggle quickly between the 2 projects as fast as starting and restarting the projects 1 to 2 seconds apart. I hope this information is helpful.

BOINC 6.4 is no longer in development. As it looks like now, its replacement BOINC 6.6 will be coming out next week. This version has a lot of fixes, especially in the way it will schedule to fetch work for CPU and GPU combined.

Just got back to the country and found that 6.4.7 upgrade was available. I downloaded it and it seems to work fine but I was asked to reattach to my projects. The ongoing work, especially a long-term cosmology project disappeared. I reattached to projects and got new work. Are the previous ongoing work items lost? Was there something I was supposed to have done prior to downloading upgrade to save that work?

Check that you downloaded and installed the same format as you did before: 32bit of 64bit. If going from 32bit to 64bit on a 64bit Windows, the previous BOINC version is in a different directory structure (\program files (x86)\) as opposed to where it is going into now (\program files\), so the installer just installs a completely new BOINC.

Check if your old data directory is still available at wherever it was. Default place for it is in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\BOINC

I agree it doesn't behave well. It has a tendency to stop and go repeatedly during it's active run time. I'm not sure it is doing as set by my settings files as I say it should run while the computer is in use, but it seams to act as if I hadn't selected the "Work while computer is in use" setting at all. Additionally: The screen saver that opens when I select Show Graphics repeatedly disappears, and the activity timer in the program looks to stop often. I also note that the program has a problem in getting it's communication with the client host. I often get a message to this affect. I did a reset on my projects that looks to have helped that problem a bit, but it still plaques the system. I hope the new version 6.6 they say elsewhere in the site that is to come out next week as noted has better functionality, and has these problems fixed. I would like the program to run as set by my settings local, and or as to my settings on the BOINC system Web site. I'd also like to see a program that will use less system resources, and work a bit faster with greater efficiency. Thank You for listening.

Running as a daemon

That is your problem. Under Vista and Windows 7 you should not install BOINC in Protected Application Execution mode (aka the service install) as then CUDA will not work, due to it being unable to get permission to run in the OS.

Uninstall BOINC, reinstall it, 3rd screen in the installer click Advanced, uncheck Protected Application Execution (Which will also have a warning towards this for Vista and above!!), then continue the installation.
