I can't get BOINC to do any network communications, it doesn't log anything and keeps saying communication deferred. I have it set to always be able to do network comunications and i'm running 6.4.5

Check that you allowed BOINC (boinc.exe) to connect to the internet through your firewall on ports 80 and 443. If you are using a proxy, set it up in BOINC Manager->Advanced view->Advanced->Options.

And I hope you are attached to BAM (BOINC Manager->Advanced view->Tools->Attach to account manager...) ?

sorry that was an old message, when i request network communications it just defers it and doesn't log anything. here's a clean log when i am connected to the internet and have requested network communication. I also can't sync with bam at the moment

Well, in the new log there's nothing that says that you're deferring. But as I asked, did you check permissions through the firewall/proxy?
