I've installed BOINC on my work PC (Windows XP pro SP3) and found that the mouse cursor disapears after screen saver starts (the mouse is A4Tech). I'm wanted to reboot my PC every time! What is a problem? Help!

Are you allowed to run BOINC at your work?
Which BOINC version?
What is your video card? Which DirectX version does it have? Which drivers?

The missing mouse pointer, is it in the screen saver (which is normal....) or after you got out of the screen saver? Which project are you running? (edit: Ah, I see it is Seti and that you are running only Astropulse_v5 5.03 tasks. )

Moreover, now while BOINC screen saver starts in some short time my monitor shuts down! And when I switch monitor's power off and then on I see NO SIGNAL on the screen...
Now I solved this problem by change my screen saver back up to WinXP standard picture.

It sounds more like a problem with your video card, than that it is BOINC's screen saver. In any case, make sure you have OpenGL drivers installed, as they are necessary for the screen saver to work correctly; Windows default drivers don't install OpenGL support for most video cards. .

Thank you. May be you are right. I'll try to install OpenGL.

Thank you. May be you are right. I'll try to install OpenGL.

Already at forums I had seen answers written in German language, so - English isn't only one language allowed here - and this answer I wrote in Russian, as country indicated in Oleg's info...

Automated translation for English-speaking BOINC participants:
-----
It is necessary not "to instal OpenGL", and only to put down the driver from a native video card (it already should contain both DirectX, and OpenGL).

Tiny (92KB) OpenGL test

And when I switch monitor's power off and then on I see NO SIGNAL on the screen...

And here it is very similar to absence of drivers of the monitor where the maximum frequency of updating is registered! For example, at me Acer AL 1916W so at video card ZOTAC 9600GT at the list of admissible permissions there are permissions with refresh to 100Gz inclusive (my liquid crystal monitor of the such does not support) so many even office time-killing DirectX-games, were started at once in the same black variant when the monitor informed on an inadmissible video-mode (Rescued only that frequently it is possible to leave such games blindly on Alt-F4). The situation has recovered the native driver from site Acer'a - there directly are registered the maximum permission 1440x900 and the maximum frequency in 75Gz - so even those fullscreen games began to be started normally ;)

And when I switch monitor's power off and then on I see NO SIGNAL on the screen...

Thank you very much to everybody! The problem is really solved by updating video card drivers from ATI website. Now everything works the best! Thanks a lot!
