Having struggled to get my AIX server doing boinc, I am somewhat discouraged to find no projects to run on it! Okay, AIX is somewhat of an older and rarer beast than your linux and OSX but in the general field of nabbing computer power, I would have thought any port in a storm... It is just a shame to think of all those CPU cycles idling away when they could be searching for ET or predicting when I need to put my house on stilts. Come on chaps, give the old AIX masters a chance! Of course, if you need someone to cross-compile something onto AIX, let me know :-) |

Check http://www.dotsch.de/boinc/BOINC%20Clients.html ... Lots and lots of AIX clients. Of course, you'll also need science applications, as these won't be downloading automatically either when the original platform isn't supported by the projects. So for those, check http://www.dotsch.de/boinc/SETI%40home%20applications.html (Seti only, I'm afraid. Perhaps because not many projects use open source for their application code, or when they do, it's difficult to near impossible to port the code over to your platform). |

What about this (found on www.dotsch.de)? AIX Binaries Gruß, Gundolf [edit] late again :-) [/edit] Computer sind nicht alles im Leben. (Kleiner Scherz) |

[edit] late again :-) [/edit] Sorry, I moved his post to here and since I had Lars his website open anyway, thought I could link the necessary links in one go. Next time I'll wait 10 minutes. ;-) |

Sorry - must have been unclear in the original. I have the binaries running fine and even created some basic scripts for controlling them via init.d ( I know, who hasn't...) but I just can't find any project to attach to. Everyone I try says "No projects for your platform"... from which I guess that projecvts need to be taylored for the platform. Have I missed something? |

The only thing that you've missed, is that AIX isn't as wide spread among the general public as Windows and Linux. And projects go for the OSs where they get the most return for their effort. As well as needing an AIX computer with attendant software, and people with AIX programming experience, to work on developing a project. This word be rarer than for the Mac, which isn't as widely supported as Intel and AMD machines. |

Sorry - must have been unclear in the original. Perhaps the Anonymous Platform? Are you aware of that concept? Ageless and I did post links to application binaries. What processor architecture do you use? Gruß, Gundolf Computer sind nicht alles im Leben. (Kleiner Scherz) |
