Message 22416 - Posted: 13 Jan 2009, 21:14:44 UTC

As of Jan 7th of this year I have not been able to produce any results because of missing output files. The projects I'm getting process in almost no time and when my computer communicates with the network I get the following error:

Computation for task h1_810.50_S5R4__259_S5R4A_1 finished

Output file h1_810.50_S5R4__259_S5R4A_1_0 for task h1_810.50_S5R4__259_S5R4A_1 absent

Sending scheduler request: To fetch work. Requesting 43202 seconds of work, reporting 2 completed tasks.

Scheduler request succeeded: Got 0 new tasks

Message from server: No work sent

Message from server: (reached daily limit of 2 results)
Here ends the error results.

BOINC is sitting around idle and I have NO idea how to fix this. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I see all of your tasks started erroring out with the switch to Einstein ver. 6.10 application. How was that installed? Did you download the beta package and use an app_info.xml file? If so, try the following:

  • Stop boinc client
  • In Einstein project folder, delete app_info.xml and the 6.10 .exe files
  • Start boinc client

The boinc client should now download the official application files from the project, which may be either S5R4 or S5R5.

When I tried the 6.10 beta application, all of my tasks errored out as well but doing the above has fixed the problem.

Edit: Ignore the above advice, as I see some of your tasks are S5R5 so you are not using an app_info file. Maybe someone else can read the debug data and help you as I don't have a clue as to what it means.

My machine is in pristine condition. I'm running WinXP Pro 64-bit. No defragmentation needed and no drive errors detected. Use CPU preferences already set to 100% of processors present and 100% of processor capability. I am running 6.4.5 version of boinc. Error started before upgrade from version 6.2.18 and upgrade did not fix or alter the error.

Bobcat13, edit seen and taken.

Problem persists. Please help.

You may want to report this at the Einstein forums and ask them why the application exits out with "exit code -1073741131 (0xc00002b5) (Float Multiple Traps)" all the time.

I'm having this same error running QMC@Home on one of my four hosts. I didn't get much of a response on the QMC board so I thought I'd go here next.

The problem child is a stock P4 running Ubuntu 8.10 and BOINC 6.2.12 (that's what came with the Ubuntu distro and not being Linux savvy I'm hesitant to update using the Berkely installer). Other than me trying to slowly learn something about Linux this is pretty much a BOINC-only machine. It doesn't get a lot of attention, but it has no problems running several other projects. My other are hosts are Wintel boxes, again, with no QMC problems that I know of.

I think everyone of the QMC WUs it's attempted to crunch crashed immediately with an error similar to this one:

2/10/2009 9:01:53 PM|QMC@HOME|Starting two_bench15_s22-ecp2-TZmf.32425_2
2/10/2009 9:01:53 PM|QMC@HOME|Starting task two_bench15_s22-ecp2-TZmf.32425_2 using Amolqc-preRC1 version 501
2/10/2009 9:01:54 PM|QMC@HOME|Computation for task two_bench15_s22-ecp2-TZmf.32425_2 finished
2/10/2009 9:01:54 PM|QMC@HOME|Output file two_bench15_s22-ecp2-TZmf.32425_2_0 for task two_bench15_s22-ecp2-TZmf.32425_2 absent
2/10/2009 9:01:54 PM|QMC@HOME|Output file two_bench15_s22-ecp2-TZmf.32425_2_1 for task two_bench15_s22-ecp2-TZmf.32425_2 absent

I've tried resetting the project a couple of times, but that hasn't helped. Any ideas?

Thanks,

MarkR

For everyone looking at this thread:

"Output Files Absent" is not an error.

When a WU is downloaded, part of it is information for BOINC (which it stores in client_state.xml), about the names of files that will be created when the WU completes successfully, and the url to send these files back to.
If a WU crashes before completion, BOINC looks at it's 'To Do' list for it, and then attempts to send back the specified file(s). But, as these files haven't been created, BOINC sends back a message to say that the file(s) can't be found.

The only line in Messages that applies in this situation is the one that says: Computation for task nnnnnnnnnn finished. Error-messages / cause-of-crash will have to be found elsewhere.

Edit -- Sorry...I didn't see Les' post before putting this one up. If it would be better to start a new thread I'll be glad to do that.
********************************************************************************

I didn't realize how deep you could go looking at WU details and I think I might have found something. Here's a stderr output that's typical for the WUs run by this host:

<core_client_version>6.2.12</core_client_version>
<![CDATA[
<message>
process exited with code 127 (0x7f, -129)
</message>
<stderr_txt>
Amolqc-preRC1-501: error while loading shared libraries: libstdc++.so.5: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

</stderr_txt>
]]>

My tiny Linux brain tells me that I must not have a certain shared library loaded. If that's right, how do I go about fixing that?

In a terminal enter sudo aptitude install libstdc++5

Do not add the .so.5 extension to the end.

But of course -- thanks, Dagorath. After installing that library my host now seems quite happy crunching QMC.
