Version 1.74.

The automatic detection of the running programs is improved. Some project where not always detected.
Some other improvements.
Redraw the Icon after a desktop or explorer crash.
The update dialog, that pops up ever now and than is now limited to 1 minute and no longer blocks the program.

Sort of a big problem with ATI mobility cards.
I have a 4650, and OverDrive isn't supported on my card, so Tthrottle cannot read the temperature sensor. I get OverDrive failed to initialize.
Anyone managed to get it working on mobility cards, using modded drivers or with these http://www.station-drivers.com/page/atidriv%20mobility.htm ?

Managed to find a workaround.
Since the cooler on my laptop is the same for gpu and cpu, and TThrottle doesn't detect my gpu sensor, I've limited the cpu temperature.
In idle mode, cpu % gpu is under 60 deg. When I start Collatz, GPU temp rises until 78 deg and the fan becomes annoying, while also increasing the cpu temp up to 73 deg even though it's utilizing around 10% of one core.
The workaround is that I limit the cpu to 70 deg, and this makes the GPU % vary from 0 to 97%. My option is to limit the fan so that it doesn't go to an upper 'gear'.
Still, it would be nice to detect the gpu sensor, but the workaround works.
Also, as a side-note, the cpu utilization, from what I see, actually shows the 'gpu' utilization of that particular task (it's 0..5% lower than what gpu-z shows)

Yes. Same thing as with the others.
Now, I've uninstalled 1.76 (not before copyng the files in another directory)
Ran InstallDriver64 as admin, and the workaround still works (gpu temp not detected).
Anyway, maybe the laptop sensor is...special :)
For now it does the job.

1.76 seems ok so far, but 1.74 was ok for a couple of days before it went belly up.

1.80 May 2010
# Changed: Moved from compiler V 2005 to V 2010.
# Changed: Driver installer V 1.30, now shows Windows 7 machines.
# Changed: Rules tab -> Show running processes: Moved process fetch and calculations, to another thread. This makes the load more distributed, on multi-core CPU's. The same thread determines the runtime % minimum threshold for the general throttle.
# Changed: General throttle: only throttles processes that use op more that 4% or a core time. This eliminates the huge list of background processes, from throttling.
# Changed: Increased height of the dialog, needed as CPU's tend to get more cores.
# Changed: One unified installer for 32 and 64 bit. You have the remove the 64 bit version first!
# Fixed: A potential crash may occur. (Close an already closed handle).

Switch to 1.80.

And setup you computer to create dump files (for debugging on my machine).

If you still get a crash, mail me the dump file. That way I can see what causes the problem.

I ran TThrottle64 on my i3-530 overnight, in the morning it was gone.
Windows 7 Ultimate (Dutch version, English layout). Nothing about it in Event Viewer, so not a clue what happened to it or when.

Not an automatic reboot? Windows update...

Windows update...

A) I have put TThrottle in my Startup folder.
B) I update Windows by hand, thank you very much. Even Windows doesn't like it and it keeps pestering me with a pop-up reminding me that I have WU off. ;-)

You have probably checked if it was (still) running, a driver crash may remove the icon, if you are running an older version.
I've once seen Windows refuse to start TThrottle from the startup menu due to access rights.
Otherwise another mystery.

Message 33478 - Posted: 21 Jun 2010, 17:31:25 UTC - in response to Message 33477.

It wasn't the icon I was missing, it was the little temperature bar. I am running your latest version, or better said, I got Windows 7 Ultimate in on Saturday, installed that clean and then downloaded & installed TT. So whatever your latest version is. ;-)

A driver crash... doubtful, nothing else was affected.
But I am still trying to get to grips with this version of Windows. When coming from XP, it's a big difference. Annoyances abundant, such as the pop-ups of programs I minimize, telling me that the program is still running. Go away with that... lol.

I did have a little time where BOINC couldn't contact the internet. Perhaps a coincidence?
