This a test version to dig deeper into the AMD detection. 1.711
http://www.efmer.eu/boinc/download_beta.html
After installation please check the program directory. Read the properties of the exe and check for the version 1.7.1.1.

Can somebody test for a 4650 mobility 64 bit?
My guess is that my Cat 9.7 are a bit old.

A new version of TThrottle solves a nasty global memory leak.
When TThrottle is running for a couple of days if may cause system instabilities.
http://www.efmer.eu/boinc/download.html

And I'm please to announce the integration with BoincTasks.
So you can see the throttling and temperature along with the tasks (wu)
http://www.efmer.eu/boinc/boinc_tasks/download.html

And remotely of course.

I've been unable so far to get with BOINCTasks 0.31 or any previous version that has the added columns feature, to get it to pick up the temps from TThrottle 1.73. Running both 64 bit and executing them under admin. W7-64 bit on Q6600. Temps are read out correctly by TThrottle, Coretemp, Speedfan.

For security reasons by default everything is disabled.

In BoincTasks read the chapter TThrottle: http://www.efmer.eu/boinc/boinc_tasks/manual.html.
For now I'm moving more and more to the Combined mode, so this feature only works in combined mode.

Ah, a case of me suffering from the RTFM fail. Found and activated which called the W7 firewall to permit this to pass across the home-network, not the public.

goodoos,

temps are showing after ticking the show TThrottle option too. All 4 cores/sciences show the identical temp. Was that meant to only show the highest of the 4 on a quad?

on BT, I've verified that the CPU% column is selected in the settings, but it has disappeared somehow. Switched the selection to applications, applied, after which the app column show this field 2x, then switched that column selector back to CPU%, applied after which the column disappeared again.

Also the preferences interface no longer wishes to appear.

For the Wish List. The App field / column selector I'd like to see an option added to see the short names + version instead of the user friendly name (probably already is)

Many thanks again for a great app.

For now the CPU is showing the highest temperature, Only the GPU that is dedicated to one, shows the actual GPU temperature.
As for the missing column, it may be too small, try enlarging the column (it may be 0); I will change this in a next version, to show it anyway if it is too small and the wish is added.

this is a pretty interesting thread. i just was actually looking for some help with this. i have boinc installed on pretty much every computer i run. one of them is a server that feeds a media center. the problem is that when seti is running it kicks up the core temp and the fans spin up to compensate, eventually reaching a pretty high pitched scream. as one can imagine, this is not desirable when one needs to hear audio.

so i'm looking for some way to throttle boinc on this one box simply so it makes less noise. unfortunately for me, and the direction of this thread, i swore i'd never touch another microsoft product as long as they continued to charge a premium for the rubbish they call code.

so has anyone any ideas on how to implement this on a *nix system?

In version 1.73 I removed the CUDA tab. But there are still some users out there, that use this feature.
So I made a special edition of TThrottle.
http://www.efmer.eu/boinc/download.html Look for Special Edition.

And... this is not the latest version, just a version without the bug of V 1.72 and the CUDA tab added.

On AMD host with Venice CPU (Athlon64 3200+) 1.73 special showed ~158C and 1.73 installed some driver (it said so) and now shows ~34C.
CPU is fully loaded by SETI MB so I highly doubt the temperature really can be so low.
OS is Win 2003 server so I used x64 build (x86 refused to work anyway).
Does this AMD CPU supported ?

The 32 bit version can't be installed on a 64 bit system, the driver is incompatible.

Looks like the same problem is discussed here: http://www.efmer.eu/forum_tt/index.php?topic=145.0

So I can do some calibration editing that xml file, thanks.
Another question:
On the same host it doesn't detect currently running SETI MB (some special build with non-standart name). It lists this app togather with all processes when I hit list button, but shows "Number of matching Programs (Processes): 0".
Why it could not detect my BOINC installation?

If it's in the regular place, like the project folder it should be detected.
Go to the BOINC tab and check if the project folder is listed.
Next check show all.
And see if the program itself is there.

But when your program runs outside the "normal" folder you can add it to the first Tab. Check Expert and put the name without .exe in the list (V Add V).

In the next version I will try to auto detect all programs. Including programs that run in this way.

Did you use the BOINC installer to install BOINC in that folder?
Or did you move BOINC manually?

Can you give me a registry reading.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE -> SOFTWARE -> Space Sciences Laboratory, U.C.Berkeley -> BOINC Setup -> DATADIR
What string is in DATADIR

Ah, now I see what is the problem. I use probably too older BOINC on this host.
There is no such reg key here, only INSTALLDIR=P:\bin64\BOINC\

Yep, version 5 (and previous) doesn't create that key. It was introduced with version 6. (Found that when testing Ageless's wheredir program :-)
