I have not had this problem before but the Time to Completion is jumping up and down by anywhere from a couple seconds to 10 or more seconds, and doing it constantly. It is doing this on all four of my Tasks (SETI, Einstein, POEM and Docking.) A 10-hour Einstein got stuck last night with 7:07 left to crunch and ended in a computation error. I just restarted my PC, reset all projects and ran benchmarks, to no avail. I am running Vista. My PC is viewable.
Anyone have a clue what has happened and how I can remedy the situation?
Thanks in advance and I hope everyone had a wonderful Holiday season! Let's find some answers in 2009.

Would you mind pointing to your PC at any of the projects? Seti doesn't know any account with the name Bob Weidman, Einstein doesn't allow search for people's names.

They should all be listed under Bob and Claudia Weidman. I apologize for leaving that out. I don't know what you mean by pointing to my PC at any of the projects. I'm not all that familiar with the jargon.....I just couldn't see wasting all of my computer's down time and thought this would be a good way to utilize it.

It would've been easy to have a link to any of your computer IDs posted here. But ok, I found your account at Einstein. From there we can check the other projects as well.

I see from the tasks at Einstein that you have the "too many exits" problem. This one happens when the science application cannot read the last checkpoint, so BOINC stops its running. This can have various causes, some of which are written down in this FAQ.

...Einstein doesn't allow search for people's names.

Try this one :-)

In your computing preferences, do you have set XX in Use at most XX percent of CPU time to less than 100? If so reset it to 100.

I just restarted my PC, reset all projects and ran benchmarks, to no avail...

I think resetting was unnecessary, a simple reboot would have been enough to get things running again.

Gundolf

Thanks for your help, Ageless and Jahn. I reset all projects to 100 share. I used to have the exit problems a lot but I fixed that somehow.....don't even remember how now. (I do apologize for my lack of technical knowledge....and personal memory, at this point. I'm getting old and on way too many meds.)
I may not have described the problem I am having properly. My "Completion to" times are not counting down linearly like they used to before yesterday. The "seconds" will, for example, drop a second then bounce up 4 seconds, then down 2 and up 5........randomly. It doesn't appear to be a serious problem (my 10-hour Einstein project may have just messed up at the end, though I am afraid it was associated with this "time" problem since I haven't had any "finishing" problems in a while) but I am thinking it is taking longer to do the projects now due to whatever is causing this.
