I deleted the Account at the BOINC Teams Site I had, I thought I had already done that some time ago but apparently not, but I'm sure it's gone now anyway.

I assume you've deleted your team over there, but you write "Account". How did you delete it? (As usual, cou can possibly just rename it to some junk and empty the email address.)

Peter

I just used the Delete Account & Teams on the main page, don't know of any other way of doing it ...

I give up on it for now, I've tried every combination of password that I've ever used at the BOINC Projects & none of them work. So if the BOINC Teams thingy was responsible for creating an Account @ the PS3Grid Project I have no Idea what the Password is to let me into the Account.

And unless somebody affiliated with the Project helps out I'm dead in the water and never will run the Project. I don't want the Credits going into some Off Shore Account that is never associated with my normal Account ... :)

You should change your email address and password at all your projects

I can't & I won't do that, whats done is done & if somebody wants to mess with my Accounts then that would give me the excuse I think I've been looking for to just chuck it all and say the H with BOINC.

I'm so feed up with the BS & Ineptitude that goes on at a lot of the Projects that I don't really care anymore. Even with my investment into my Farm I don't think I'd have any problems walking away from it all and never looking back.

Some of the Projects I've been involved in are no longer even in existence & I can't even get into the Accounts at those Projects. So if I start run around and start changing things at the other Projects my Credits would get all messed up so either way I'd be screwed up ...

Hey, but hold on. When the account is made by BOINC Wide Teams, can't you then go to the log-in option and do the "forget password" trick the first time around? That should get you an email with a link in it with which you can log in. Then you can change your password and such.

It's how I did it at all those projects that all of a sudden wanted to add my team (and account).

If you mean over at the BOINC Teams site then no, it doesn't give me that option. If I try to recreate my PoorBoy account it won't go thru unless I specify a password.

Thats what I don't understand about the BOINC Teams creating a password that you don't know what it is. I know I used a password to create my account there & assumed any Team and or accounts it created would use the same Password but apparently not.

PS: I re-created my PoorBoy Account using a password, went into the Account and I don't see anything that gives me the option to forgo a password ... ???

No, I meant at the project's site.

They can't do that as it may be compromised. So what you do is this:
When you get an email of a project that your team is made at such&so, you go to their site, your account. It'll ask you to log in, you can't as you don't know your password (I don't think there is a password even).

If you now click on the small blue link "forgot password?", you go to a new page where you can fill in your email address. Do so and project such&so will send you an email with a link in it that can be used for 1 day. Click the link in the email, you get transported to your account, where you can change your password, your nick to Billy-Bob and shirt colour to blueish orange.

Edit: The project does need some of the later forum software to be capable of doing this, but seeing how many a new project is just starting up, most do have that option. PS3Grid at least does, as that's how I got my account there.

The trouble you have is... when the emails about accounts and such being made are sent out before the project has their email server set up... then you can't get your login link. But just wait a day (or 12) and they'll probably fix it.

I've tried that "forgot password" thing already several times today since early this morning but have recieved nothing from them, and no Mod's or Dev's have responded either.

I've tried that "forgot password" at several other projects and have never got anything from them either so thats about usless most of the time ...

I don't even know if a team has been made with me on it, I haven't recieved any notice if it has @ the PS3Grid Project, all I know is my normal e-mail address has been used already & I don't know the password for the account it's being used on ...

PS: I did a search over @ the PS3 site and a Team has been formed with me on it as the Founder ...

You are filling in the email address that you got the initial email about your team being made on? No typos? Forgotten apostrophes? CapiTaLs where there should be none? ;-)

Ah... that may be a problem with the BOINC Wide teams site, where you have to validate your email address every so often. Don't ask me why, I really haven't a clue, but I have to revalidate my email address every so often, else I won't get any further notices.

Saying that, tonight I got one from project Pathfinder, whose server is down already. Seems to be something new: send out the emails and take the server down. Or use the internal IP address 192.168.x.x ;-)

Okay I did that tooo but don't know if it'll do any good @ the PS3 Site now anymore ... I even added the ps3grid.org address to my mail program as a friend and to allow e-mail from in case it was blocking mail from the site.

Apparently nobody's home @ the PS3 Project, I still have no e-mail from them of response in the Forum, I've had the same problem over @ the Magnetizm Project ever since it's inception. Although there I was able to create my normal Account but still haven't been able to gain Control or Founder-ship of a Team I supposedly created but am not Administrator for.

I also posted @ the Magnetizm Project about the Project Aborting Wu's on my computers that were 100% done and when they reported to the Project the Project Aborted them, didnn't say it didn't need them or anything just up and Aborted them as they Reported. I posted about that 18 days ago & still have no response from the Project ...

I just used the Delete Account & Teams on the main page, don't know of any other way of doing it ...

I'm sorry, I've missed this (apparently the only one) way to delete BOINC Teams account :-)

After reading through newer posts...
So, as you've already deleted your BOINC-wide team and account, you can still create them once more. If you want to. But it will apply just to newly created projects (and such, that will import the lists (again) at a later time. (No idea how did it happen with PS3Grid, as the BOINC Teams account was much younger than the PS3Grid account?)

I give up on it for now, I've tried every combination of password that I've ever used at the BOINC Projects & none of them work. So if the BOINC Teams thingy was responsible for creating an Account @ the PS3Grid Project I have no Idea what the Password is to let me into the Account.

Is it still possible to create multiple accounts with the same name? If yes and PS3Grid admin(s) will not respond, you could create another PoorBoy over there, let him join PoorBoyzToyz too and ask for team foundership transfer (and hope nobody is playing cat-and-mouse games with you :)

Yes I could do that but it still wouldn't solve my main problem & that is to get my normal e-mail address back to use with my normal Nick of PoorBoy. I can create another PoorBoy Account but it would have to be with a different e-mail address so then any work I did do would go under that account and not my normal account.

The only way I know of getting it back which I've had to do at several projects now is for somebody associated with the project to send me the Account Key so I can access the Account and change the Password to my normal password. Unless somebody from the Project does that then I can't get me normal e-mail address back.

Joining a Team and asking for the founder-ship of the Team is about a waste of time too, I've been doing that for 2 or 3 month's now over at the Magnetism Project with out any success, and even if I did get it all I could do is kick the original Poorboy off the Team but I still wouldn't have my project wide e-mail address back that way either ... LOL, kick myself off a Team, I like that idea even if it doesn't solve my problem ... ;)

Yes I suppose I could do that, I'll wait a few days & see what happens @ the PS3 Site & if anybody from there replys. I want to try the GPU part & have a Box set up to run the Wu's if I could get my normal Account back.

I also have a PS3 sitting here in a box that I'm going to try & get ready today to try the PS3 Part of the project but without my normal e-mail address I won't run the Project so i'll just be a waste of time & money if that doesn't happen.

I don't care about the Team under my name, a lot of the Projects have a PoorBoyzToyz Team with me as the Founder but I'm not even a member of those Teams. I just had them created to keep somebody else from using that name or maybe in the future join back up & use them myself.

As I AM getting emails from PS3Grid, I assume that the current PoorBoy contains some other email address than your expected one (except that your emaild would get blocked somewhere, but you've not mentioned it for the new account).

You can still try to change PBToyz' email address to your regular one, to check whether any other accound has it already set or not.

The only way I know of getting it back which I've had to do at several projects now is for somebody associated with the project to send me the Account Key so I can access the Account and change the Password to my normal password.

Yes, this would be the nicest solution.

I've already tried to use my normal e-mail address & it won't let me use it because it's in use already ... The Current Poorboy has the right e-mail address (Or somebody's using it) it's the password that's the problem, I don't know what it is so I can't access the account.

Hmmm. I'm trying to decide whether to be confused or not.

You can not create an account on PS3 using your regular e-mail address - the project replies "Already used".

This was an advice meant for BOINC Teams. But it is actually necessary to follow it on all new projects' accounts, created by BOINC Teams import.

If current PoorBoy (or any other account) uses your regular e-mail address, following this advice you should get the temporary login link to that PS3 account emailed. Have you tried it there? Let me try it for you... "Instructions have been emailed to *****@xxxxxxx.nnn."

Yes exactly, now your starting to understand my problem ... ;) ... I can create another Account with the name PoorBoy if I want but I have to use some other E-Mail Adress than what my CPID is linked to at all the other Projects.

So if I do that the Credits I earn would go to the other e-mail account and not my regular Acccount.

Yes I've tried that already a half dozen times & I get that message too but never get anything just like other projects that I've tried it at ... Some projects that works others it doesn't, apparently it doesn't at the PS3 Project. I've had an e-mail going to be mailed to me 4 or 5 times now from the PS3 Project but have yet to recieve anything ...

You can try to contact GDF at ps3grid [at] gmail [dot] com.
He's pretty busy and it can take one or two days before you'll get a reply...
