Sorry if this is a simple question I simply can't get it to work. This is my home computer. I have admin rights and my wife and kids do not. I installed the new version and it runs fine under me. However, under my wife and kids accounts it will not run. I tried to get it to run and it says that I have to add the user to the bionc local users.

I have no idea how to do this and searched here but can not find the answer.

Thanks for any help.

When you installed BOINC, did you choose to install with Protected application execution?

If you did, BOINC will run under their accounts. (It's a service that runs always).

If you didn't, you would have had to check the other option as well: Allow all users on this computer to control BOINC. As when you do not use the protected application execution, BOINC will not be installed as a service and only run when you start BOINC Manager. Allowing others to control BOINC adds their name to the users group that is able to start BOINC Manager and control BOINC this way.

Now even if you installed BOINC as a service (protected mode) but didn't check the Allow others option, as I said the service will run under their names, they will just not be able to start BOINC Manager to check up on things. For this they need to be in the group of people allowed to do so.

The only sure and easy way to do so is through the installer.

For the installer options, look through this FAQ.

You would need to uninstall BOINC and reinstall it to add your family's accounts.

Are you running the Einstein screen saver?
Is this with a BOINC 6 version, if so which one? Can you try to update to 6.2.18, which is the latest and holds all the latest screen saver fixes?
